I really don't like Jacob Black. I'm just curious to know how many of you guys don't really like him either.

The thing is, people forget it's not the actors that are the characters. The actors ARE NOT the characters. they are portraying them. The characters are in the books. The actors just try and play them to the best of their ability.

I don't want to diss Jacob, and I'm not trying to. I'm glad you said you don't go by looks. It seems alot of people go by the looks. It's refreshing to hear. :)

mandapanda I totally agree! Why you would want Jacob, if you can have Seth, who's nicer, doesn't have problems with vampires, is funny and much more! I actually really like Seth. Not Jacob. No.

I'm rereading the books myself and honestly the first time around I hated Jacob but now I do sort of understand what him better and why he said and did certain things. But I'm still not that fond of him.

Rereading the books gave me a different perspective of the characters. I understand why some people aren't really fond of Jacob. Most people think that he was trying to keep Bella away from Edward. Plus, the tent scene in Eclipse made some Twifans hate Jacob even more. However, I totally understand what he was trying to do for Bella. It was a desperate situation for him and as Bella's best friend, he was just looking out for her. (So yeah...) Now, I'm on Jacob's side. =D Looks don't really matter to me. It's the heart that counts. :)

for me it was the chapter from hell (second kiss) in Eclipse that made me hate him with no chance for redemtion. I think that one chapter sums up all his flaws perfectly and shows why - at least in my eyes - he never really loved Bella. he just wanted to have her. so yeah, the heart is what counts thats why for me Edward will always be the better person

the teams, it doenst matter where it originated, its how I see it. there is always going to be poeple who dont like what actually happened but to me, from the very begining of their relationship they just didnt have any other choice. Jacob might have presented himself as an option but she didnt have a choice. and its funny when people say that. dont like Bella. I was personally never too fond of her either. I liked them together though Edwrad + Bella = perfection. most of the time :D

Edward is my favorite because he's much more mature and a lot of stuff I'm too lazy to write. And to be honest, I have a weakness for suffering guys. So Midnight Sun is like totally perfect for me. And also the end of New Moon. When Edward suffers, I'm totally happy (I love him, but I just fall in love more with the character if he's in pain)

I think immature doenst need elaboration. I mean he is 16 years old, its to be expected. reckless - he doenst think of consequences for his actions. ever. he doesnt stop to think who may be hurt or dissapointed or put in danger, he just does it. case in point, BD and Jacob showing Charlie who he was so he can visit Bella without considering for a second she may not be ready. I think impulsive comes with it. manipulative - open up Eclipse at any page and read. the emotional blackmail he used to get that second kiss is probably the biggest and most rage-inducing and dispicable proof of it. prejudiced - it let off a bit in BD when he actually go to know the Cullens but NM was just lesson in short sight. self-centered - I feel like he never really considered Bellas feelings in his quest to hurt Edward or win her over. it was all about getting the girl but not really listening to her. in my mind his biggest flaw is that he never understtod Bellas love for Edward. he never realized how all encopasing it was. cruel - I think I covered it with the recklesness. he tired to hurt Edward even though he knew lot of what he was doing would hurt Bella too. hurting people on purpose quilifies as cruelty in my book. hurting people you claim to love on purpose, well ... that is inexusable. as for my hate - my dislike comes from the fact that I simply dont like him as a person. most of his characteristic is something I woulndt be able to stand in anyone. then there is the fact that he is shown down our throught as this perfect friend and perfect boy when he is anything but and the more I see it the more his flaws become visible to me.

Hmmm... Well, all those adjectives that you used to describe Edward can be used to describe Edward too, in my opinion. Reckless- Edward doesn't think of the consequences for his actions when he left Bella in New Moon. I would consider that reckless. If he was to be more careful and thoughtful, he would have just checked on her once in a while... or ask Alice to do so. Because of what he did, he put Bella into great depression and unknowingly left her in the danger of Victoria's presence. Manipulative- He manipulated Bella into marrying him. ^I already said what I thought in my previous comment. :) Self-centered- In Eclipse, he 'banned' Bella from seeing Jacob. What gives him that authority to do so? I think it's kinda ironic when he says Jacob is dangerous, since Ed himself is a vampire. What makes Ed more 'safer' than Jacob? In fact, Ed has put her in dangerous situations before. He didn't really care much about how Bella felt for Jacob. Cruel- This can apply to Edward in New Moon and in some other parts of the books. I thought Edward was rather cruel for leaving Bella. I know he did it for her own 'good' but shouldn't Bella have a choice in it? And forbidding her to see Jacob, well to me, seems cruel. Jacob was her best friend and she does have feelings for him. I think Edward was rather 'cruel' for not letting her make some of the decisions in her life. So basically, I think both characters have their own flaws. It's a matter of how we see it. =] Anyway, I think it's good for characters to have flaws of their own. It makes them whole and gives more character to them. I personally like Jake more. Quoting Bella: To each, her own. :)

× I dont really want to respond to this post because it made me kinda angry. and I dont want to use harsh words cause I liked talking to you. it feels like you are comparing the incomparable. and you are also taking single moments out of the whole to back up your opinions while disregarding the rest thus making them mostly invalid in my eyes. so I wont respond to those. I would say one thing though - in the whole story Edward considers him a danger to Bella. it is aknowledged and faught about. but no one aknowledges that wolves can be and are dangerous too. and that what pisses me of and why Im with Edward on that one. I dont think he had the right to forbid her from seeing Jacob at the reservation but he later aknowledged it and let her even though it was against his instinct and better judgment. that makes him the man Jacob claimed to be but never was. I agree that both characters have flaws but I fell like Jacobs are never pointed out. so I never miss a chance to do so.

That's sort of the way I feel about it. When I think of Jacob I just think "another teenage boy who doesn't really like me as much as he says." like you said Edward just seems like more than that. (which he is seeing how he's over 100) I've just been hurt by boys too many times to even want to give a fictiona teenaged boyl character just a little likeing. I think that may be a LITTLE bit of my I don't like Jacob thing.
