was the guy who got killed in the scene with the boat and james the same guy from teh dinner the first time bella ate there when she first arived in forks?

i think it was but im not positive. Pleeze help

that's not it... Waylan was the friend of Charlie for years... and the meet accidently in the dinner... he got killed by james that's why Charlie is so sad when Bella sees him after Edward drives her back after saving her from her attackers
