I smirked at it, the whole uncomfortable elevator music that I was hoping for did take place, but I think it would have been more funny if they would have used a more cheesey sound, then the classical opera music they played. Knowing the tension though, it made it a little amusing. But it wasn't Laugh out loud.
i think they shouldnt have used elevator at all,u noe, with volteri's love for art and antiquity, well an elevator doesnt fit well in that scanerio, but all n all the movie waz good n i dont hold it against them.....and the scene ummmm waznt funny but yes it waz kind of awkward.
WTF is with all these comments saying it wasn't funny? I've already seen it twice, and both times the whole theater, including me, were cracking up at the elevator part. I, for one, thought it was hilarious!
Hahaha I actually thought it was funny! But in like a creepy way, because like Bella was practically the only one moving in the elevator! And then seeing Jane's face like just right there kinda creeped me out! But i thought it was akward funny.
i was the only person (out of 150 or so) in the theatre who laughed about it.
sure, if you think about it it doesn't fit the story at all and makes absolutely no sense, but i really think it's just so funny because of that absurdity and akwardness. i think the ambivalence between the plot & its tension and the very casual setting makes it absolutely hilarious (altough i would have put really cheesy elevator music in the background to underline that aspect).
great idea, mr weitz or whoever came up with it.
