Twilight Series Question

So does anyone else find it odd that Edward could barely sit in the car with Bella the first few times...but when Alice and Jasper took her to AZ, Jasper didn't have an issues with it.....

I mean I understand that, but Jasper could barely conrtol himmself anyway so would being in a small space make him freak??

he had alice next to him - and i don't think killing bella was on the top of their minds - they were trying to keep bella safe so i think he must have just tried really hard to not think about bella's blood lol
