I have thought about this too, and I don't think that Edward will hum the lullaby in the movie. Alot of people were disappointed in Carter Burwell's lullaby that he composed. But in te HitFlix interview with Chris Weitz, he said that Alexander Desplat, the new composer for New Moon, will stick with Carter's lullaby. By this I think he means, he will stick to the same melody, but may expand on it. That's the only way i can explain it.

Remember, the movie is different than the books. The movie lullaby is different than the book's lullaby. But it is kind of fun to compare the differences.

The lullaby in the movie is an ensemble piece..Edward would hum the melody of that which is the head of the piece. in other words he would hum the piano parts, ( any singer can do that ).

Well, I can hum the lulliby just fine. I don't think it would be that weird. But because it's not really considered "important" it probably wont be in the movie anyway. Any of them.

The lullaby in the movie is most likely completely different from what Stephenie Meyer had in mind when she wrote the books. I know I certainly was not thinking it would be played by a full on orchestra, that's for sure. I really loved Yurima's 'River Flows in You' for the lullaby but I suppose they wanted something original.
I was actually really disappointed. I mean, Edward is meant to have played the piano for what? Nearly 100 years? And they made it that simple. Not as fantastic as I was hoping. But alas, you can never please everybody.
