Twilight Series Question

Jacob always says that Bella wouldn't have to give anything up (eg: humanity) by being with him but as he doesn't age wouldn't they be faced with the age dilemma again?

And Jacob would stay sixteen (or twenty five, if you prefer, as his body is already quite advanced) and Bella would be about eighty. And he can't bite her and have her turn into a werewolf, can he? So wouldn't she be better off with Edward so there wasn't a huge age difference and it wouldn't be creepy and weird?

...I'm confused.

XOXO Team Rosalie

Well, as far as I know, Jacob will age... when the werewolves find someone they age with that person, but I'm not sure if that's Jacob's case since he didn't imprint on Bella.

I'm glad someone post a real question here, I just hope someone else has a better answer :P

I don't think they start aging when they imprint, but when they can stop phasing, because Sam had Emily and he wasn't aging. But Jacob never imprinted on Bella so if they had ended up together then she would have been real old and he would still be sixteen. Same dilemma as with Edward, only without a solution. I will never understand how, knowing this, people can be on Team Jacob...

They have to stop transforming for a period of time before they start aging again. Remember the stories by the campfire? So he can age if he chose to. That's all I'll say to keep from ruining it for you.

Yeah I've read the entire series but I still don't understand. Won't Bella be about (atLEAST) 40 by the time Jacob has self control enough to stop phasing!?

Jacob did't really inprint on Bella so it might not be a problem.. I dunno

Yeah it isn't a problem because Rensemee, who he imprinted on, doesn't age either. But when he gets the self control to stop phasing and starts aging again Renesmee, who will be probably about 22 forever, will have to watch her soul mate grow old and die. Sad :(

Shape-shifters don't age when they transform, not when they imprint, imprinting has got nothing to do with not aging ...
if Jacob stopped transforming at some point he would get old... now, it's his free will to decide which one will it be: transforming and not getting old, or not transforming and getting old =)

so in Bella/Jacob case they wouldn't have a problem, cause if he imprinted on her his pack couldn't stop him from aging/getting old with her..
in Nessie/Jacob case we also have no problems cause as long as he's transforming regularly he won't age, so he and Nessie can live happily ever after aka forever..

So can he make himself transform?

jacob says in eclipse that it's hard for them (shape shifters) to stop transforming, that it take a lot of control.. so it's actually easier for them to transform then not to... when he gains enough control over phasing and stops doing that, he could age again..

yes!! u r faced with the dilema BUT..... once jacob can control the phasing enough to stop, THEN he will start aging again!! plus jacob is younger than Bella anyway so Jacob can catch up!!!

But that could take gazillions of years.

I think Jacob has pretty good control now, I don't think it would take him long to quit changing. So he'd be able to stop transforming and start to age again. I don't think it would be a problem, to be honest
