When Edward & Bella are writing notes in English class [Eclipse], what is Edward talking about when he says something about a black box?

well in newmoon they gave her a sterio and stuff for her b-day when he left she took it out and but it in a black box in eclipse Edward finds it and says that she killed the sterio!!!
