In twilight I don't understand why was it Edward who sucked the venom and not Carlisle? It would've been less risky so I don't understand why the author made Carlisle ask Edward to do it knowing that Carlisle has the restraint.
i don't get that either i mean carlisle easily could have done it but in stead he pushed edward to do it! don't get it.. :P
I've wondered the same thing too..maybe Carlisle has the restraint to be 'around' human blood but asking him to suck on it might have been be too much for him. He knew that Edward would find the will to stop because of his love for Bella.
I think the reason is that carlisle had to deal with bella's other injuries which meant that that left Edward to suck the venom out, even though i'm sure it says in midnight sun or something that Edward has medical degrees and even helped Carlisle in hospitals before so maybe it was just they needed to act quickly to save Bella and Carlisle was needed on the head injury, etc. Plus in Midnight Sun Alice saw that it would be Edward- "it might be strong enough to not kill her"
I think the fact Carlisle let Edward do it because Edward loves Bella. It would be a bit weird if Carlisle was to suck the venom out of Bella. Edward would want to do anything for Bella and would have wanted to do it himself.
Edward has always seen himself as a bad person and Carlisle knew the love Edward felt for Bella and made Edward do it so he knew he was a good person and was worthy of Bella's love, And he knew Edward would be constantly blaming himself that he never did it for the one he loved, (:
The thing is Carlisle was trying to stop the bleeding in Bella's leg and work with her broken leg. Even if Edward didn't suck the venom out, Bella probably would have died without Carlisle anyway! Pay attention to the detail! It's crucial!I also think Carlisle was helping Edward understand that he loved Bella to much to kill her. I don't completely know. Ask Stephenie Meyer.
I think he had to take care of her injuries and keep rest of the family away from her (we know what Jasper did in New Moon..). But he also wanted to show Edward that he can not kill her.
i think carlisle wanted to show edward that love is so powerful and it can hurt you sometimes or maybe rescue you from fire.and wanted to show edward that his love for bella is powerful enough to save her not kill her and he can control himself.
becouse carlisle had to stop the bleeding els were and edward was the only 1 who was not doing anything at the time and it helped edward be amune to bella's scent thats just my gess
There could be several reasons Stephanie. 1. Carlisle was holding off the blood in her leg so she wouldn't bleed out. 2. It shoes that Edward cares enough about Bella to overcome the monster that is inside her to save Bella and while he is saving her we can see how truly hard it is for Edward to stop sucking her blood, which allows the audience to see the potential for disaster in their relationship.
Hope that helps.
Because it was more romantic & sexy that way. Carlisle asked Edward to do it because, even though it would have been smarter for he, himself to do it, because if Edward wouldn't have stopped, at least it would have been his venom that infected Bella, like she wanted. I think it's a big deal about what Bella wanted mostly and that maybe Carlisle wasn't thinking then. IDK. But that's my opinion. :)
