Courtney is definitely one of my favorite characters in TD. She can be little extreme in her endeavors when it comes to winning but people seem to forget it's a competition.
By far. Courtney has a lot more of a personality and developed far better than Gwen. Not that I have anything against Gwen she is just isn't that well developed of a character. Whose traits mysteriously disappeared one by one as the show went on(I'm referring to Gwen of course). Unlike Courtney's traits that the show actually established how she grew out of or got the said trait.
^Not really,I will admit Courtney can be a drama queen sometimes and even a bit of a tsundere, but she isn't abrasive. She has been shown countless times to care for others feelings. For example when she called for help when Izzy and Owen was in a plane accident.Or when she saved Izzy's life in the first episode. How about the time when she made healing cream for Gwen. And let's not forget the countless times when she tried to help Duncan not to be eliminated(i.e when she was trying to get Duncan to sing in tdwt at the first episode so he won't get eliminated). Sure she does have her villainous moments just like every other character in td, but there is by far more prof that she is caring than there is of her being insensitive or abrasive. There's like what? The Very Last Episode, Really and Ed Mcdonald's poor and abusive writing towards Courtney where she actually felt like a bad person and her actions made her completely unlikable.Aside from that though she never really acted villainous and when she did it felt out of character or unrealistically mean-spirited without any rhyme or reason.
^Thanks! As for the main character thing, I don't think since she is focused on for all of the seasons she's in,she's just never the main focus. Most of the main characters in td usually make it to the finals.Because they usually have the main arc, they have to be on screen the longest. For Example Gwen and Heather's rivalry was the main focus in season one so, Gwen the main protagonist had to make it to at least the final three. As with Courtney she was never a part of a long running arc and instead always invited to an arc that starts in the middle of the season and doesn't get it resolve until the next season.
^No Justin was the main antagonist in season 2, Courtney was more of a minor antagonist that was only there so the fans could see more interactions between Courtney and Duncan.Btw an antagonist doesn't automatically equal a bad character or an unlikable one.
^No in the second half or the merge Justin still was the main antagonist.Only near the end was he voted off.Leaving Courtney with 2 episodes of being the main antagonist and even then she was treated more of a anti-hero than an antagonist. Which is probably the main reason why the show always tries to put more empathy on her side than any of the other antagonists of the show.
To me, I always thought that Courtney and Duncan were the main characters of the whole series... :) BY THE WAY, I PERSONALLY THINK THAT DUNCAN IS TOO MUCH OVERRATED IN THE SERIES. Don't you think? I actually want more of Bridgette, Trent or Owen and Leshawna! We've seen enough Courtney, enough Duncan and enough Heather and too much DJ.
