To be honest I really felt more sorry for Courtney than Gwen. Both of them was pretty hated by the others. At lest I knew why with Gwen but Courtney I have no idea why.

But,with Courtney at the first season she was voted off unfairly. On the second season when she just joined she was gossip about and was betrayed by her boyfriend the FIRST time(not saying she it wasn't earned she said mean things a front of they faces and she did use someone when some one was going to use her).

And on the third season she did nothing to anyone and she got to get betrayed by her friend and her boyfriend a SECOND time.People said it might be because she tried to change him but I think she was trying to make him a better person but not knowing how to do it.

On season five she forgot one of her teammates was there and use him as a shield and got switched to the villain team and comm hit her before that.Than she lied to Gwen and got hated for that.I'm moving on to Gwen now.

But with Gwen she did noting in the in the first season and nothing happened.

On the second season she broke up with her boyfriend on tv .(I thought it was unfair until she tried to vote off Trent).

Than on the third season she betrayed her friend and got hated for it some how Duncan was still liked in fact they cheered him on for it .On season five she did nothing and she got lied to(Aging she did cheated on her friend she did kinda get what she deserve). And yes I can use that aging since how big it was.

I personally feel so sorry for Gwen. She had it rough......and this last season just fell flat and left her ending weak. I have no sympathy for Courtney on the other hand.

In season 1, Gwen enters the competition as the brooding loner, who finds love, but in the process, is trying to make friends, win the competition, and fight off the endless torment from her rival, Heather. And sadly, she comes in second place and loses her chance at the money.
In season 2, Gwen comes back to win the game, but gets stuck dealing with an obsessive bf who won't let her just be. Trent doesn't trust Gwen around Duncan, he throws challenges for her, and then he can't accept the fact that Gwen chose him for him. Gwen is BLACKMAILED into voting off Trent....which sucks. And Gwen feels bad about it, and eventually votes herself off as a means of restoring her karma. She had found solace in Duncan, a good friend, that stuck with her until the end of her time on the show. And guess what? Gwen was given so much shit for it. She was accused of cheating with him by Courtney in the aftermath.
In season 3, Gwen has a crush on Duncan, but she doesn't act on it in the beginning. Gwen gets put on the same team as Courtney, who is doing everything in her power to disagree with Gwen and pick a fight with her. As the season progresses, Gwen and Courtney make nice nice with each other, until Duncan comes back. Duncan kisses Gwen FIRST.......and then Gwen feels like shit because she was "friend-ish" with Courtney and she knows that it isn't right, but Duncan obviously has no remorse until Courtney finds out about it. Then, Gwen's whole team turns on her, and Courtney is hellbent on destroying Gwen, a girl she just somewhat befriended (rather than being more furious at her bf of 3 seasons but that's cool - writing fluke). And sadly, Gwen and Courtney are against each other for who will be voted out, and Gwen loses an unfair challenge and has to kick the bucket. And then in the aftermaths, she has to deal with Courtney's endless songs of torment.....fun times.
In season 5, Gwen is happily with Duncan, but still feels shitty about what she did to Courtney. And apparently everyone else feels the need to shit on Gwen too, but not Duncan. And needless to say, Duncan doesn't stick up for Gwen, and then decides he may be interested in Courtney again. And Gwen tries to make things right with Courtney, only to have bad luck create every obstacle for her in mending the friendship. Duncan then demeans his relationship with Gwen by asking if Courtney talks about him, and if Courtney is noticing their kisses. So Gwen dumps him (as she should have for that stunt), and is a social pariah on her team. And when she does befriend Courtney, Courtney ends up shitting on her in the long run by talking shit about Gwen, drawing devil horns on her "best friend," and then lying to Gwen saying she'd make it to the top with her. Courtney used Gwen to get farther in the game, and was going to continue to do this until she didn't need Gwen anymore. That's betrayal at it's finest.

I have no sympathy for Courtney. She literally deserves some hate for her stunts, specifically her behavior at the end of season 5. That was abominable.
In season 1, she was voted out unfairly, which sucks, but Duncan was to blame for that one.
In season 2, she uses her lawyers to get back on, and abuses that power to an extreme. She treats everyone terribly, and puts herself on a pedestal above the rest. She treated Duncan terribly, made a contract about when he could talk, flirt, or touch her, and became determined to control him every way she could.
In season 3, she continues to tighten the leash on Duncan (which totally isn't flying with him) and keeps an eye on Gwen. Duncan isn't having any of their shit, so he up and leaves. And then when he comes back, Courtney turns HIS leaving into something about HER. Cue the hug scene. "Next time you abandon ME, it won't be pretty." Yes Courtney, Duncan leaving because he couldn't handle the arguing and songs is definitely about him abandoning you. *eye roll* So Duncan is annoyed, but already is eyeing Gwen. And naturally, Duncan cheats with Gwen....and yes, it sucks and Courtney has every right to be pissed off. However, Courtney's main focus being on Gwen was really annoying for me......Duncan deserved half the blame, and a tad bit more considering he was the bf. Courtney then made it her goal to make Duncan jealous, which really wasn't the greatest move. And in this process, she's throwing herself at Tyler (a taken man....which is super hypocritical), and Alejandro. In addition to this, Courtney continues to act childish by whining about Duncan and then singing those petty songs about Gwen and Duncan.
In season 5, Courtney seems super mature and she's not letting anything get to her, which is awesome! But then.....she ignores Duncan (which is great), but sends hate glares at Gwen. Like what? What happened to moving on and being mature? My fave part was Courtney saying: "I knew Duncan would cheat. But I was more hurt by Gwen." I'm totally against the CxG friendship, but this line really irked me because if she knew Duncan was going to cheat, why didn't she just end it seasons ago? And how can she be more hurt by Gwen (a girls she kind of made friends with in one episode) vs. a guy she has been dating and madly in love with for 3 seasons? I personally don't get the writing here, but I digress.
So Courtney and Gwen really form a bond and are now best friends, complimenting each other's hair, and doing girl talks, and both of them hoping the other wins the million. And then they make a pact to go to the finals together. And what happens several episodes later? Courtney apparently has a list/plan of who she's taking to the final. She's got her new bf, Scott, as the number one and Gwen, her best friend, as number two. Throughout the past episodes, we've also seen Courtney put Gwen aside for a guy......which is what is super hypocritical yet again. Courtney receives no flak for doing the same thing Gwen did: put a guy before friendship. And then Courtney literally shits all over Gwen; she talks shit on Gwen, draws Gwen as a devil (oh yeah....I do that on all my best friends' pics), and she point blank lies to her. Courtney once again put herself first and showed her true colors. Winning consumes that girl, I swear. Courtney's betrayal was awful.....
I was starting to dig the CxG friendship too and then BOOM.....the writers ruined that one.
I just can't feel any sympathy for Courtney after season 5. I was really starting to like her character, and then now I just can't. She brought the hate on with her selfish actions. And Gwen is who I feel so bad for: she lost her bf (for trying to make things right with her bestie), her "best friend" (who turned on her), and her reputation (it never came back :/).

In this department Gwen dose feel like a marry-sue. Think about it In Tdi she had to try to beat her rival Heather. (You know almost everyone's rival that they get beaten up by again and again.) And just like most of the players she relays on revenge every time she has gotten revenge it plays it has a sweet moment. Like with the fire aunts she puts on heather as she laughs innocently while writing in her dairy. Even through I will admit Heather did deserve it. Don't get me wrong I do like this moment. But she isn't as innocent like the show tried to betrayed her as. And with making friends it was pretty easy for her. All of them shared the same hate for Heather and easily got along with each other. With her having a new love she wishes for her to be with Trent guess what happens. She's with Trent. Even through there were some times where Heather did try to split them apart Trent was a sweet enough boy to try to make it up to her every time he felt like he did something wrong and Gwen did forgive him. And in some countries she did win. In some she didn't that was okay both really did deserve the money. And both made friends, rivals and a love interest on the way. That hey overcame with. Gwen was a loner and Owen was socially awkward so I'm sure that was very hard for both to deal with. And overcome.

In tda she saw Trent again. And the did promise to each other that they won't get all competitive with each other. As you imagine that didn't last long. Both did happen to do the same thing. Tent sees Gwen call Duncan hot, sexy, etc. And he feels even more jealous of Duncan. Growing his hate for Duncan. As he saw Gwen and Duncan getting closer and closer. He started to get worried that Gwen and Him wouldn't be anymore. Than with his nine obsession which Gwen is reconsidering why she dated Trent. But here's the thing in the middle of that she was getting all romantic with Duncan as he was to her. When both are full knowing of the fact both of them where already dating someone. Which makes it feels like it's fully deserve when she gets hated on. For the wrong thing but still. She did deserve it. And again the show try to make her as innocent as possible and forcing you have sympathy for her in one of the cheapest ways.

In tdwt, She was starting to have a crush on Duncan. Courtney didn't trust Gwen and was fighting with her. Until those two made friends. Than Duncan kissed Gwen. And instead of pushing away or doing anything to show she didn't want to betray Courtney. She kept letting him kiss her. Sure, She was upset about it before Courtney found out/ start. But in the middle she kinda of rubbed it in her face. And was acting devilish towards her action. And the show still tried to make her seem innocent. On top of that she was wishing for her to get with Duncan and those two did get together. Which is a big part of being a marry-sue is to have your wishes come true. And since Courtney has angry issues she reacts childish to it. The show tries to make Courtney be evil for being mad about her friend and her boyfriend turning on her. Which is why she always kept a close eye on both. Which is really aggravating since Gwen is the bigger villain here.

In Tdas, She finally feels bad about what she did and tries to make up for it. While she is having no luck doing so. Duncan the douche as he is did the same thing like he did to Courtney in season 3. And is showing a crush for the person he isn't dating. aka Courtney. Then in the middle of the season everything is working out perfectly for her. And then Courtney admits that she wants to win so she is going have to turn on Gwen for that is going to work. And unlike Gwen who waited a whole season before making it up to Gwen. Courtney tries to make up for it in the same episode. Gwen will forgive her if she votes herself out of the game. Courtney dose and I really feel like Gwen was tricking her to vote herself off.Which is believable and understandable if haven't for the fact how it's shown hat her main best trait is understanding how others feel. But I guess it's really fine if she wanted revenge besides what her personality says.

My main point is that Gwen's sympathy is really force and often times in that department she feels like a marry-sue.(Not that she is a marry-sue but she dose feel like one.) But with Courtney She deserved what she got most of the time but it's written better since they didn't try to force innocent or wasn't shown on by accident.

In Tdi, Courtney doesn't feel the need to try to make any type of relationship with anyone. And ends up making friends with Bridgette and having a crush on Duncan. In the start she was way too scared to jump off 10,000 feet into shark invested water. Since being afraid is somehow her fault she almost gets voted off. But she lucked out because not many people can't deal with sexist people. Especially the girls which I'll admit was way worse. At the "Not Quiet famous". She gets hit with a stage light and her talent that she was so happy to perform with is broke. And she can't perform liked she wanted to. Which since she named it I can only assume that it was important and had a lot of valuable memories to it. But my second guess could just be because that light hit her head so she went crazy over it. On Phobia Factor" She faced her best development when she had to learn you can't do everything which was hard for her since she was a perfectionist. And she felt really bad since she's the only one who didn't her fears. And went through great development. And in "Basic Stringing" She was voted off for Duncan's actions which was really unfair to her. Even through she took her revenge out already. She was still pretty mad. And at the last episode she did betray Duncan but it was said before hand that he was thinking of doing the same thing.

In tda, When Courtney came back I was very hyped up for it. But when she came back she was fighting with everyone. And BTW I have no idea where most of the girls got their hate for her. She was pretty nice in the first season. And didn't give any problems not counting the air balloon thing. But pretty much no one but Owen, Dj, Cody and Harold saw that. And they didn't say anything about it to the others. They just saw them climbing up and going after Courtney. Than a bear than Courtney drops with the money. And the they didn't have any time to tell them about it in fact everyone quickly forgot about after the second it happened. After that the others didn't keep anything about that one moment. If I was them I would be willing to push her into her own phobia I'm quiet surprise they didn't do that. It was earned. Scaring them to give her the money was a easy way to earn up to it. Even though I saw them live though falling from 10 times high and living. I am sure they wouldn't kill them. Specially what I seen these characters live through. 1,000 feet and a sharks infested water was more dangerous than what they were going through. How much they went through and lived. I'm sure falling 25 feet wouldn't kill them. At most they might break some bones. They might have knew this since they didn't give her the money. Still breaking bones for money is still wrong. And I think I would've liked it better if Courtney fell into the big bowl of her phobia. But putting that aside they shouldn't have anything against her. Specially the girls who wasn't told about it and didn't see it. And also Her and Duncan fought and abused each other throughout the season. But it was played for humor and those two did like to fight so I guess I can give it a pass. Yeah Courtney did deserve what she got in that season. And her worries about Duncan betraying her. And yeah those two were horrible to each other.

in Tdwt, She did threaten Duncan but Most people don't go through with their threats. And same goes for here she didn't went through it. Instead when the same thing happened he got away scott free while Courtney was picking on Gwen. For betraying, In fact she seemed a lot more broken by Gwen than Duncan. And Duncan didn't really feel bad at any point on what he did. Which is a shame since "Greece Pieces" Was the only time he did gets what he should have gotten along time ago. Besides it was probably the best that those two broke up in the first place. They didn't get along that well, And was really unhealthy to each other. So I guess it's the best that those two broke up in this season. But I'm still mad at Gwen for not trying to make it up to her sooner. Really, She had to wait a long time before than. Even through her revenge did suck. I think she really hold it in well for that season. Even if she acted a little childish. I don't find her revenge all bad. But I guess that is an opinion. Even through I have little to no sympathy for her in this season she at least they didn't treat her character as badly as the next season.

In Tdas, I'm going to agree what Icemily42 said about her character in this season. Her character was really off in the worse way. It's not like her to say "No I wouldn't, I'll be a step closer to the money and Gwen will be deer food." her best character trait is her caring nature and how they betray it in this season is sicking especially since we were promise a reputation for her character. And she isn't stupid enough not to rip her paper after she was done with it. She isn't really isn't that picky about her food in fact in tdwt she ate the gross food just fine even said "Mmmm" In the progress of eating it. She was also one of the few people not to complain about chefs food in tdi or tda. I guess I can excess the use Sam as a shield thing since she did get punished for that. By being hit with it herself and moving to the villain team. She forgives Gwen and they become friends so I guess it's all good until she turns on Gwen for the money. I guess I can forgive her for that since she tried to fix it in the same episode. Yeah she was really bad in this season and I really didn't like her. Until she made friends with Gwen. And those two were sweet as friends and really had a lot of cute moments.

I guess neither but If I had to choice it'll be Courtney by a long shoot.
