(the story through the mind of Jason)
I'll save you the whole sad and tragic backstory of my past as an orphan because mine has nothing to do with it
I was born to two loving parents in Hawaii, the first thing I heard was a loud boy running through the hospital. I didn't know it at first but this was my brother Raymond.
As it is in a beautiful place with the beach my life was good, I had awesome friends and spent a lot of time with family at the beach but one day, one day it went downhill. I came back from the beach and saw my parents packing, I asked them what's going on and they said "we're moving" and like an anime the sun was a large background and I had that shocked look on my face.
The day of departure my grandad was the last person to talk to me and he gave me a ukulele.
I went from sunny shores to an industrialized metropolis, yes New York, after two years I was walking through town and came upon a boy who was 16 years old playing guitar. I walked over to him and the first thing he said was "nice ukulele" I was surprised my ukulele was out of sight from the front, he asked me to play with him, I explained to him that I've never played before but he replied "just play" and by a strange turn of event we played perfectly together after a while I learned his name was Ken and he said to meet him here again.
The next day I left to meet him and he had a friend that was 10 years old, her name was Ashton she played a keyboard with us, I don't know how i did but I was in perfect sync with them it was a very happy feeling I felt myself felling whole for the first time since I left Hawaii.
As the years went Ken left for college so it was just me and Ashton we played a lot music over the years she taught me how to play piano and we self taught us the flute and saxophone but the sad part came when I had to move again this time to California
I was sad that won't see Ashton or Ken for a long time but I'll never forget what they taught me about music.
I arrived in L.A at the age of 13 and the first thing I did was unpack my instruments, I went for walk, with my ukulele as always, and saw a guy about my age playing in an alley corner, I approached him and asked why is he here he said,"I don't like people thinking I'm a street performer"I understood him and decided to play with him, he asked me to play his trumpet, I had no experience but still played as if I had played before. Over three years I played trumpet and violin but as usual when I got close to him I moved again this time to London.
When I arrived I took another walk I didn't want to make another friend, but there was a girl who caught my eye she played the bagpipes, I went over to her but she didn't seem of European origin she was Hawaiian, after I heard this she became my closest friend, her name was Gabi and she was an amazing musician, I spent the whole day with her and learned how to play the bagpipes. When she had to go home I returned as well.
At home I entered my room and saw an empty space perfected for the bagpipes, I went to bed that night and remember all the friends I had all these instruments we're a part of them and a part of me as long as I had them I had my friends, suddenly moving wasn't so bad anymore infact it was an awesome experience, I turned and saw my ukulele the instrument that started it all
