Himegami Aisa; her blood is so sweet that it attracts vampires
Himegami Aisa (姫神 秋沙 Himegami Aisa) is a recurring character in the Toaru Majutsu no Index. She is a Gemstone and possesses the ability "Deep Blood," which attracts and kills vampires.

Aisa looks like a normal teenage girl. She has long, straight, black hair, and is often seen wearing her miko outfit. After the events of the second volume, she begins wearing a cross necklace given to her by Necessarius so vampires will not be attracted to her blood.

She is a quiet, young girl with a rather blunt personality, generally soft-spoken and sometimes shy. She can be as gluttonous as Index, which...

Tsuchimikado Motoharu (土御門 元春 Tsuchimikado Motoharu) is a recurring character in the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. Kamijou Touma's next-door neighbor, he is a student of A Certain High School's Class 1-7 alongside Touma and Aogami Pierce. The three of them are called the Three Idiots—Delta Force.
Initially referred to off-handedly as Touma's other classmate and neighbor (though in the anime is shown earlier as a recurring side character), he is later properly introduced during the Angel Fall Arc, as a spy for several organizations, most prominently Academy City and Necessarius,...

Fukiyose Seiri; an average girl who hates people who give up on their life. Although she hits Touma in the face many times, she still recognizes him as a trustworthy friend.
Fukiyose Seiri (吹寄 制理 Fukiyose Seiri) is Touma's classmate, Aisa's best friend, and often takes up roles of the class representative even though Aogami is the class representative.

Seiri is a young girl in her mid-teens with a slender, yet solid build who has been described as rather tall for her age. Like Kazakiri Hyouka, she is considerably well-endowed for her age and has been noted to have a big forehead, furthermore she usually selects hairstyles which indirectly emphasize the size of her forehead to the point were one of her looks is called "Forehead deluxe". She has been noted...

Shutaura Sequenzia; she has the will to protect her alter ego Meigo Arisa at all costs. They end up with each other reuntied in the end.
Shutaura Sequenzia (シャットアウラ=セクウェンツィア Shattoaura Sekuwentsia) is a character original to the Toaru Majutsu no Index Movie. Under the orders of Academy City's Board of Directors, she responds to the need to protect a Level 0 named Meigo Arisa from Stiyl Magnus and the rest of the magic side's attacks.

She is the type of person that uses her power...

Once she figures out what time it is from Komoe, Index gets up and uses her own blood to draw a pentagram on the table. She asks Komoe to follow her instructions, but Komoe’s initial reaction is that they should wait for an ambulance and put some bandages on the injury. Index knows that this won’t work, and she instead has Komoe assemble a miniature model of the room using random items found around it. She then has Komoe follow her lead in singing until the contents of the table are linked to contents of the room so that what happens with one also happens with the other. The next step is...

With this episode arrives the true beginning of Index II, covering more or less the first 169 pages of volume 7 of the light novels. What can I say? It’s the usual Index fair, with an entire episode being dedicated to exposition, which is really good pacing when putting into context that this is adapting a light novel. Speaking of that, the first thought that came to my mind once the episode wrapped up was “thank god, they didn’t turn it into Shana II“. That’s right, everything in this episode is adapted directly from the light novels, even the delicious nun-service scenes. From what...

Kanji lyrics

Last Order; a clone of Misaka that can show emotions like a normal human being. She seems to take a liking to Accelerator and the converse is also true.
Last Order (打ち止めラストオーダー Uchidome (Rasuto Ōdā), lit. "The End") is the 20001st clone of Misaka Mikoto, that was produced as part of the Sisters Project for the Level 6 Shift. She becomes an intergral part of the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline after meeting with Accelerator who later dedicates himself protecting her.

Last Order is depicted as a 10-year old version of Mikoto with one unusual strand of hair (known as an ahoge) that acts up in humorous moments in the manga. In her debut appearance, she's seen wearing a ragged piece of blanket as makeshift clothes. She is...

Tatemiya Saiji; a strong and determined leader of his group and who assisted Touma and his friends in raiding the Queen's Fleet
Tatemiya Saiji (建宮斎字 Tatemiya Saiji) is a character introduced in Toaru Majutsu no Index. He is the Substitute Supreme Pontiff of the Japanese-based Amakusa-Style Remix of Church, leading the sect in behalf of Kanzaki Kaori who has vacated the position of Supreme Pontiff before the start of the series. As Substitute Pontiff he and the Amakusa Christians went on missions which carried the ideals that their Priestess (Kaori) believed in, and that is to always aid those in need. He later willingly steps down from the position after Kanzaki Kaori returns as the Supreme Pontiff of the Amakusa...

For an episode that went the distance by cutting out both the opening and ending sequences, the conclusion to this arc came off like a season finale of sorts, except when it came to the actual content. Much like this series is known for, the big threat was explained yet never got remotely off the ground, as Touma settled everything with his right hand like he always does. After Biagio dropped enough clues about removing the targeting restriction of the Queen of the Adriatic Sea for Orsola to figure out his true motive of wiping Academy City and science off the face of the Earth, I was anticipating...

All the jostling between Touma and Stiyl this episode may not have been just to throw Oriana off, as our righteous protagonist (except when it comes to hitting girls) looked like he was purposely prolonging Stiyl’s suffering. It was rather hypocritical, given that Touma was telling Oriana to place more value on other people’s lives. I guess that doesn’t apply to the guy behind him swimming in a pool of his own blood. I try not to dwell on Touma’s preaching tendency since it’s a core part of his character, but he continues to amaze me with how much time he spends trying to get his...

Well, that was certainly a quick finish. This arc (volume 8) was set to be covered in two episodes, and thus this felt a bit rushed, but at least the pacing wasn’t as bad as last week’s episode. That said, I didn’t like how the anime portrayed the arc, as it felt as if characters were just being thrown in for no particular reason and it didn’t address the importance of Last Order and Accelerator being shown, i.e. why Last Order remembered Accelerator despite the fact that all her memories from the time she first met Accelerator were wiped. I suppose in the context of the anime we can...

Having been looking forward to this sequel ever since Railgun ended back in March, I must say that this first episode certainly did not fail to meet my expectations. This episode gave me exactly what I was looking forward to seeing again on Touma’s side of the story; nonsensical arguments between Kamijou-san and Index, misguided magicians with pathetic illusions clouding their vision, and yes, even the “Kamijou Choir” that this anime has become infamous for. Lest we not forget the imagery porn that Index and Railgun are also known for, with backgrounds so beautifully drawn and detailed...

After Stiyl leads Touma back into the cram school building, they find an unconscious Index with Aureolus and Himegami at the top. Keeping Touma from immediately charging forward, Stiyl tells Aureolus that he won’t be able to accomplish his goal of saving Index. As it turns out, Aureolus was Index’s partner three years ago, and because he still thinks that she needs her memories erased every year, he’s come up with a plan to turn her into a vampire because vampires can save an infinite amount of memory and not lose their self. Aureolus is thus shocked when Stiyl reveals that Touma has...

Orsola Aqunias; a nun who is good at deciphering ancient codes/magic codes
Orsola Aquinas (オルソラ=アクィナス Orusora Akwinasu) is a nun-in-training formerly under the Roman Catholic Church, who specializes in preaching to pagan countries, and in decoding written codes. This skill in decoding puts her into the harm's way as she wanted to decipher and destroy the infamous Book of the Law, prompting the very institution she is in to attack her, and forcing her to seek refuge. She is first introduced in Toaru Majutsu no Index in distress, and her plight and struggle is chronicled in the Orsola Aquinas Rescue Arc.
Afterwards she receives the protection of the...

And so we finally arrive at the finale of this arc, and what a finale it was. While it was a bit rushed, it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the pacing with the sheer amount of win in this episode. The obvious highlight of this episode was the loli Falcon Punch Touma delivered to Agnese to break her illusions, a punch I’ve been waiting to see animated again for a long time. It felt wrong pumping my fists as a little girl got a new face arrangement, but you couldn’t help but feel excited to see the patented Touma Falcon Punch in action again. I found the fight itself between Touma and Agnese...

Upon finding his father on the beach, Touma questions why he got involved in occult stuff. Although initially hesitant to say anything, his father eventually explains that it has to do with how Touma used to be known as a jinx because of all his misfortune. He sent Touma to Academy City because it wasn’t a superstitious place, but even science couldn’t get rid of the misfortune, and that’s why he relied on the occult. This frustrates Touma because despite the misfortune, he never said that he regretted it, and he wants to walk his own path. Realizing that Touma had actually been happy,...

On a rooftop one night, a girl with a sniper rifle targets a guy who just came out of a store. She calls her target Accelerator, but when she fires, the gun explodes, and she’s thrown back with a severe arm injury. Sometime later, Touma is heading home from school when he stops off to get a drink from a vending machine. He sticks a 2000 yen bill into it, and much to his dismay, the machine eats the money without giving him a drink or change. Mikoto then appears and kicks the machine...
