Titanic Question

Do you still cry at the end of Titanic??

*SPOILER ALERT*

Okay, I must have watched Titanic, God knows how many times (I used to watch it every weekend at my cousin's) and everytime at the end, I still cry!!!
When Jack is in the water... I JUST SLIPPED A TEAR JUST NOW!!!
and then at the VERY end when they are re-united, oh, my heart aches!!!

Okay so my little sister is obsessed with the movie and every time she watches it she insists I do to. She watches it at least twice a month. So now I could basically be in a live performance and recite all the words and be all the characters. But every time I watch it I have like a mental breakdown where I start balling my eyes out. Even when I watch it with the voice overs, I still cried. For me it is the fact that Jack and Rose tried so hard to stay together. They went through theft, attempt murder, almost kidnap, social expectations and trying to keep somewhat secretive, on top of that they are from different classes and on top of that the ship is bloody sinking. They went through a huge amount of things and sacrificed everything in hope to be together but even then one of them goes and dies. The other left with no purpose to live because she disowned her mother, broke up with her fiancée and her dad left her when she was little. Her only purpose to live was because of Jack so beautifully shown in the 'suicide' scene where Rose tries to commit suicide but Jack persuades her not to. I have different stages of crying. First when all the people are falling into the water and the ship is vertical and about to sink. Also when the men are looking through the dead bodies and they find the woman (who asks the captain where she has to go in order to save her baby, but he ignores her) with her baby daughter in her arms dead. Then there is the part when Jack tells Rose that she must live (the sheer determination of that boy). Then when Rose realizes Jack is dead. Then when she almost gives up the will to live. Then when you look at all the photos of her doing the stuff that Jack promised they would do together and finally the 'what would have happened' scene where Rose and Jack get 'married'. Then the heart breaking song played during the credits. Come on it is not fair to break a girls heart every time she sees the dvd. I do love the film and how it is beautifully put together by the talented James Cameron and the amazing actors who play the various parts made the movie feel alive and real.

Your sister is the same as me. I've watched the BTTF trilogy a million times, and I can remember all the words.

Sometimes. It depends. Sometimes at the end I'll cry buckets full of tears (if I'm upset or have had a bad day, I'd cry no problem!) but sometimes I cry a little and sometimes not at all. I guess it depends on my mood. :)

Yes!!! Not so much about Jack's death, more about the loss of an era.
The Titanic was one of the first ships of its kind, and the people on it had the time of their lives. It fascinates me to see how different things were then - I will never know the same kind of luxury they did, modern luxury is far more conventional and comfortable, but much less beautiful and romantic. Everytime I see the film I wish I could go on the ship. It must have been an amazing experience, and it can't be repeated. That's what upsets me the most.

I still can't watch the movie without tearing up. The part where the band plays "Nearer My God To Thee" makes me lose it every time. Watching the ship split in two, all the people in the water and Jack's death all make me cry as well each time I watch the movie even to this day. When I saw the movie at the theater for the first time it felt like my heart was breaking!

I always cry at the end of Titanic because at the end after the shipwreck turns into the normal Titanic, the camera enters the Grand Staircase and everyone looks at the camera and there are lots of people who acted in the movie - like Fabrizio or the captain. When the camera goes up the stairs, it zooms out and shows when Jack and Rose are kissing. After, the camera goes up to the dome and the screen goes black. You try to think about all the poor passengers die on the Titanic and you try to think about what would it be like on the Titanic.

No, I do not cry for this film but it doesn't mean I do not feel anything. I feel for those who actually lived and worked on that ship, those real-life victims, not some fictional characters. Besides, this film makes me LAUGH. No, it is wrong to say that the film itself makes me laugh, but those who cry for this film make me laugh. :D My sister cries a lot in the end of the film. When I hear her sobbing and see the tears in her eyes, I can't stop laughing! Besides, when this film premiered, I actually hated Leonardo di Caprio. I didn't understand his popularity and when I saw this film for the first time, I felt nothing for his character. Nothing at all. I pitied Winslet's character, though.
