WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ IS 100% TRUE AND ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN MY FIFTH GRADE CLASS. Some of the dialogue might not be exact since this was a long time ago, so this is as well as I can remember it.
It was a Tuesday like any other. Us 5th graders were working on something for science. I don't remember when it was, but it involved colored pencils, which was how the whole fiasco started.
My teacher had to leave the classroom to do something, so she told us to keep working and be quiet while she was out. We all obeyed and worked quietly, talking to each other occasionally. Until...
One student -- let's call him Billy -- asked the boy sitting across from him -- we'll call him Bob -- if he could borrow a colored pencil. Bob gave him the colored pencil so Billy could use it. After Billy put the pencil down on the table, Bob snatched it back without asking if Billy was done.
Billy: Hey! Give back my colored pencil.
Bob: No.
Billy: Why? I need it!
Bob: Well, it's mine. You can't have it.
*Billy and Bob argue for several minutes*
Bob: Fine. You can have the pencil back for 10 minutes if you pay me 5 scholar dollars.
(Scholar Dollars was the system of money that we used at school.) Billy reached into his desk and pulled out 5 Scholar Dollars and set it on top of the desk. I don't remember why, but he stood up to do something, and left the 5SD sitting on his desk. Big mistake. While Billy was doing whatever he was doing, Bob took the money off of Billy's desk and put it inside his own.
Billy came back to his desk to find that his Scholar Dollars were gone. He looked frantically for the 5SD bill, yelling, "Where is my money?! Someone stole my money!"
By this time the entire class was getting interested. Next thing I knew, Billy dropped to his knees and started (fake) sobbing onto his chair. When someone went over to see if he was okay, he rolled over onto the floor and (fake) sobbed even harder.
At that point, I think someone told him that his money was in Bob's desk. Billy got up, ran to Bob's desk, spotted his money inside, and reached into the desk, while Bob tried to stop him. Billy finally got a hold of his money, and when he did, Bob grabbed it back. They played a mini tug-of-war game for the money. Eventually Billy pounced on Bob, and they both fell to the floor and wrestled for the money. Finally, Billy got his money and went back to his desk. When he was about to sit down, another student -- let's call this one Joe --, who was unaware of everything that had just happened, decided to "help".
Joe stood up with 5 Scholar Dollars in his hand and yelled, "Billy, here's your 5 scholar dollars!"
Billy: That's not mine.
Joe: Yes it is.
Billy: No it's not. Mine is ripped. See? *he held up his money and waved it in the air*
Now, I'm not sure what happened next, since I tried to go back to my work, but the next thing I knew, Joe flew past my table with the money in his hand, while Billy ran after him like a lightning bolt.
Billy chased Joe around the entire room. Joe finally stopped next to one of the tables to catch his breath. That was when Billy saw his chance.
While Joe stood there, Billy jumped, slid across the table, fell on the floor, and pounced on Joe.
A few minutes later, when everything had calmed down and everyone had stopped laughing and gone back to work, the teacher walked back in.
Teacher: I could hear you guys yelling from across the building! What happened in here?
Everyone (Thinking): Nothing... Nothing at all...
And this concludes the very interesting story of what happened when my 5th grade teacher left us alone in the classroom for several minutes. That was certainly one of the most interesting days of my life, and one I won't forget any time soon.
More extremely odd stories from my life coming soon.
