I have had the opportunity to read many books in my lifetime, many of which have changed my perspective on life and have also influenced my own writing to a certain degree. As of 2013, my favorite authors are as follows:

L.E.Modesitt Jr
Anne McCaffrey
J.R.R Tolkien
Terry Brooks
Stephen King
Dean Koontz
George Orwell

Here are some of the books that have changed my perspective on life.

The first is the absolute first book I read from L.E.Modesitt Jr, which is called The Magic Engineer. I loved this book, because it surpassed my expectations of what a typical fantasy book should be like... Instead of the typical good vs evil scenario, this book deals how opinions and deeds conflict and cause fighting, and outlay how it has nothing to do with good and evil, but rather it shows that conflicting opinions and regimes are what causing fighting and wars.
In this book, the main character, Dorrin, is skilled in using Order magic, the magic which fuels life and keeps a structure to everything, even the air that they breathe and the cells of plants. Because, however, he is untrained and can't control his powers, he is sent to a training academy. He trains for a little while, but doesn't understand how to use the magic in the way that the Magisters wish him to, as a result, he is exiled from the country of Recluce. After this, he goes on a journey to understand himself better and understand his powers. During his travels, he meets the love of his life, makes friendships that last for a lifetime and fights wizards of the opposite order, ones that are able to use the destructive counterpart to Order, that would be Chaos. It is a magical tale, that truly encompasses how a fantasy should be written - with real life applications and using theories and ideas that seem to come directly, or indirectly, from our own lives on planet Earth.

Another of my favorites is called the Masterharper of Pern, by Anne McCaffrey and of the famous series, The Dragonriders of Pern. This is one of my favorite books of all time, illustrating the full life of one of the most loved characters in the Dragonriders series. This follows the life of Robinton, once an apprentice harper, who eventually follows his dreams and becomes the Masterharper of Pern. Because of his guidance, the characters of the book develop a loving relationship with him and they overcome every obstacle set for them. Truly a sci-fi/fantasy tale of pure genius and talent. Anne makes the characters well-developed, loved and possibly the most well understand I have ever read. This is a must read from me.

Other favorites I have read are:

Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz
The Silmarillion - J.R.R Tolkien
Sword of Shannara - Terry Brooks
Magician - Raymond E. Feist
The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R Tolkien
Fall of Angels - L.E.Modesitt Jr
Towers of the Sunset - L.E.Modesitt Jr
Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern - Anne McCaffrey
Skies of Pern - Anne McCaffrey
Scion of Cyador - L.E.Modesitt Jr
Dark Tower series - Stephen King
Salem's Lot - Stephen King

All of these books I highly recommend. Also, I'll make special mentions to Brian Jacques about his Redwall series of books, which I grew up reading and loved. R.I.P Brian Jacques! <3

Every love song/love scene reminds me of Kid nowadays... He really HAS taken over my mind...and my heart...but you know what? I don't care. He's one of the only things in my life that actually makes me happy. So fuck it. I'm in love.
