“Life is for the living.
Death is for the dead.
Let life be like music.
And death a note unsaid.”
~ Langston Hughes, The Collected Poems
If, upon the unfortunate event, I am to die
Let me lie in a sun-filled graveyard
Where I may share forevermore my darling
My legend, my song, my virtues
If, upon the unfortunate event, I am to leave
Do not weep for my empty seat, my empty bed
For we shall meet again my love
And honesty shall remain to take my place
If, upon the unfortunate event, I am to bleed
Let my blood be spilt for a reason
Let my life be taken so that one may live
Keep my eternal song and nurture it
If, upon the unfortunate event, I am to go home
Do not let me be forgotten
For it is of no consequence to you
To remember I who have passed
Let me die with crimson
To wash over my guilt, my sins
Let it be a consolation
For those I have left in the midst of misery
Let me die with integrity
For the people who have no hope
Let it be a wholesome sacrifice
For that may my loved ones cope
If I am to die, let my death be full of meaning
Unknown of raven black and corpses blue
Let me die for you my darling
Because I know you would die for me too
Let me die as a warrior should fighting
Let me disappear with the brush of death biting
Let me lie with a smile and a steady heart
For no death is wasted if love does not part
Let my death be a stage
Let it whizz past your head
Such as a bullet does
When you realize you are not dead
Let my life flash by me in the blink of an eye
Let the light blind me as my lips say goodbye
I am here, never fear
You have nothing to dread
Let me die not through folly
But a hero instead
~TheDirector
I do not fear death.
