Recently there was a discussion about how Diaspro was technically a victim, but the writers chose to make her villainous even though it was really the protagonist who was in the wrong.

There are ways around it though. The writers could have the good guys admit when they're in the wrong, learn from their mistakes, and become better people for it. Or the villains could do things that are legitimately evil in the first place! Instead of being punished merely for opposing the heroes, I mean, like what seemed to happen with Diaspro. It's okay for villains to be sympathetic characters, I'd just prefer it if the villains got punished for evil actions, not for merely being "the bad guys".

It'd be a great opportunity for some character development! And teaching kids that even protagonists can make mistakes but they can also improve as a person when they learn from their experiences.

^ Totally agree here.

However, I don't think that these good ideas are ever going to happen considering where the show is going ;3;

Yes, like seriously! This is one of the reasons I'm actually growing to hate the show. As a fan of the evil characters the poor treatment and deteriorating writing of them is very off putting. The Trix have been here since season 1 and they still don't have back stories; we still don't know where they are from...and yet we know Bloom likes extra cheese pizza. 4kids gave them more of a story; an as I've come to know, 4kids changed a lot...it isn't even the original dub--at least it filled in the holes.

And then yeah, there's Diaspro; Recently there was a discussion about how Diaspro was technically a victim, but the writers chose to make her villainous even though it was really the protagonist who was in the wrong. Like wtf is that. since when is the one who gets cheated on the villain.

And then there's the fact that the Trix were actually pretty solid villains and then he dumbed them down to just the sidekicks. And then even further into the comic relief. Which sucks because they used to actually be really smart and awesome.

There's also the fact that he pushes them totally to the side; the Winx get so much offical extra art and the Trix, Valtor, Darkar, etc don't even get like one.

Yeah, they really do need to treat the villains better. Seriously, if this show is gonna ever be worth watching, Iginio needs to start giving his characters a personality.

They don't always make them more of a challenge for the Winx and that makes the villains look weak.

I've always believed that every villain should be as respected and well developed as any of the other characters in the story because that's what makes for some great writing and story telling.

Most of the villains pretty much DESERVE to be mistreated! And although I believe that there can be a little good in some bad people, people like these have absolute NO GOOD IN THEM.

But in this sense of the word it really takes away from the show that he doesn't treat them well. As mentioned before; they get sidelined a lot. The reason there's 'no good in them' is because the author didn't bother to give them any backstories and motivations. He's too busy putting out info about the faeries. That and the villains never win or seem to have the upper hand--that takes away from the suspense. In the end I stopped watching the show because of this. It's a huge weak point and a flaw in the writing. Imo a reader should never know an author's least favorite character.
