It fits in just fine. It wouldn't be suprising to find out.

It doesn't fit in at all. If I told someone, it would be very surprising.

A majority of the stuff I like is similar.

A lot of my likes aren't similar to Winx at all, but some are.

Not to mention that I'm an avid fan of metal, and although a majority of the stuff is light-hearted and easy for people to listen to (not having to be huge fans), some of the groups I like are...much different, I'll put it that way *coughDimmuBorgircough* Whereas Winx is always pushing out these love songs and really bright and high-energized songs of friendship, love, and magic.
The show is also a polar opposite compared to the stuff I've been watching recently--even in terms of animated shows. You take the friendly atmosphere of Gardenia and pit it against the harsh realities of "Attack on Titan" or "K Project" or "Trinity Blood" and it's like--one of these things is not like the other. I enjoy watching shows about serial killers and murderers, and shows that delve into the grim and strange; like "Fringe" or "Bones".
Even the vibes the show gives off is very different from myself. Even though I can be supportive in certain aspects of social participation (like rallying for gay rights, or fighting for feminism, or calling out the importance of black lives) I'm not really that friendly. I'm very judgmental towards people I hardly know and one wrong comment can have me spiting you for the rest of our time together. Hell, I hardly even believe in much anymore either.
I obsess over the darker sides of humanity, I enjoy harsh and [mainly] violent songs at times, and I thrive and fully emerse myself in shows, books, and even games that deal with hack and slash, monsters, murder...you name it.
I still find it hilarious whenever a close friend finds out I like Winx, because it's just so different from anything else that I really enjoy. Idk I guess I've always had a thing for magical girls.
I can also relate to a lot of the things you said! I love metal (including Dimmu Borgir!) and I've never enjoyed going clothes shopping, nor am I particularly interested in fashion.
I do actually like some "girly" things, but I don't really think that the girly things I have interests in are really very similar to Winx Club either. Despite having the girly thing in common, they are otherwise very different in terms of atmosphere, and tend to be on the hyperactive side. Winx Club comes across quite serious compared to them.
All that said, as my interests are generally very varied anyway, maybe some people wouldn't be that surprised that I'm into yet another thing that doesn't really fit in with my other interests. Even though I don't seem to like anything particularly similar to Winx Club, it's not the only thing I like that is different to all my other interests. I think I'm just a very confusing person!
I like fantasy but a bit more violent, action and less romance (but it's alright). I like movies like LOTR, Hobbit, and shows like the Mentalist, and I would watch Dexter if only I didn't hated Debra Morgan. I am a fan of Greek mythology and Winx club has those over pinkish transformations. I like Sirenix not only becasue it the first transformation I've encountered because it's different from the regular super girly transformations.
Anime. I like amine shows like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Magical DoReMi and anime movies! What winx lacks is the absence of those annoying specialists.
What I like about the Winx? I like some of their greek mythological transformation in which they look like fairy warriors (sirenix, bloomix {i hate how they acquired it and an ego boost for bloom, but it looks cool}) not some sensitive and soft fairies (the rest except magic winx, charmix, harmonix). I like some of their songs, quite inspiring with catchy tunes. Their transformation clips, amazing! The best I've seen after Sailor Moon Crystal. Winx has that some sort of magical attraction which forces me to watch it even after hating the plot of season 7. It's fun to watch, I can watch the same episode over and over. I like the Winx even after it's not much similar to my thinking. And if friendship is your weakest point then you are the strongest person (forgot who said it but it's definitely not me). This quote along with "respect nature and other animals" are some of the teachings which the winx try to illuminate and some how deep down in our hearts we are influenced by it.
Like a lot of people above I also tend to wear darker colors and darker jewelry. I don't really put labels on myself but I typically wear more gothic clothing. I do like sparkly glittery things every now and again but I'd much rather buy something from Hot Topic.
Personality wise I am not into most of the themes in Winx. I'm not into all the pink and glitter. I'm not into the shopping. I'm really not into boys (nor girls). Personality wise someone would probably never guess that I liked Winx.
As far as music interests this is where people may be able to see it. I listen to symphonic metal, j-rock, death metal, heavy metal, rock, and screamo and such. I also listen to some pretty vulgar stuff like Blood on the Dancefloor and Die Antwoord. However with music I will legit listen to anything. Like I love kpop, jpop, pop, and bubblegum dance. Folk, country, legit anything. So based on music someone would probably be like yeah, that makes sense.
Show wise; people may or may not be surprised. I watch a good mix of stuff. I love gory anime like Highs School of the Dead and Berserk. I like Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist. I've watched shows like 1000 Ways To Die. And less gory stuff like Teen Wolf. I also really love Once Upon A Time (this is one of my favorites), Merlin, and Robin Hood. Movie wise I like Harry Potter. Avatar the Last Airbender is one of my absolute favorites. Hell I'll even watch Storm Chasers now and again. So most of my friends know my interests here lie over the place here too. However now that I think about it the only two shows I like that are even close to Winx are W.i.t.c.h. and Sailor Moon. I typically don't shoot for shows like Winx. But I will watch them.
I'm the same with books; a lot of fantasy, a little horror, some mystery, some sify. I'm actually more all over the place with reading. If it has pages, I'll probably turn 'em.
Overall my interests are all over the place. I like to keep an open mind and try to watch and listen to a bit of everything. Makes it much easier. So really people wouldn't be surprised at all, but Winx doesn't really fit into my typical likes either.
I don't really know if my interests are that varied. I've actually never sat down and analyzed just what exactly it is I like before. I guess it is, since I absolutely adored Barbie when I was little (or any other off-name brand doll like Bratz or MyScene) but I also loved snakes and playing in the mud and going on adventures in the woods. I guess it kind of stems from there. I can like fairies dealing with friendship, but then I can easily turn around and watch a show where teenagers get eaten by giant naked humanoids ;P
@MissUnknown: I'm the same way bro. I really like fantasy but I've never had a huge thing for romance, although I can make an exception for that sometimes. But overall, I get what you mean. I tend to go for the gory stuff too because I dunno it's just cool. Guess that's why I love Bayonetta so much...huh. I like myths a lot too and learning about other cultures stories. Greek and Roman legends were the big deal for me when I was in middle school, but now I like to read more into metaphysics. I can watch innocent and realtively happy animes as well, since I tend to find them really relaxing and funny and I don't really have to be on edge on who's gonna die or if the world might come crashing down eventually. Although I am in the moods for stuff like that too.
@zanhar1: Hot Topic ftw though. I know this is off topic (hehe) but did you know that they're selling symphonic metal band tees now???? I went shopping a few weeks ago and they had a shirt for: Epica, WT, Nightwish, and Leaves Eyes! I was so excited, I bought the Epica one right away but imma definitely pick up the WT one sometime soon.
Anyways. My music preference is a lot more controlled. I can listen to older additions to genres like country and rap and pop just fine, but I can't stand what each genre has become now. I'll occasionally have fun dancing to a stupid song like "Cruise" or "Anaconda" or "Take it Off" but generally...most of the stuff is just unlistenable. Although I do like a fair amount of groups in pop I've become more comfortable with metal since the artists I listen to in pop (Madonna, Lady GaGa, Christina Aguilera, Clare Maguire) don't tend to produce that much new music anymore. Metal is my saving grace since there are so many sub-genres and so many groups within those sub-genres. It's fantastic.
I can be all over with shows too. One point I'll be watching something dealing with crime, the next it's freaking with demons and angels, and then the next I'll be watching spoiled little girls dress up for pageants (yes I watch Toddlers and Tiaras as a guilty pleasure). Btw I love Storm Chasers.
I think the other reason I think people would find it strange you like the show is because that the versions anyone could watch on Nick today are obviously directed towards little kids. Even though a lot of material that was intended for children gets a more adult following (like Pokémon, My Little Pony, or Spongebob) people still like to judge and question as to why you could like something so seemingly childish. Even thought, it's like--no, there are deep themes and motifs here. You don't know what you're talking about please stop.
I'll listen to older country, pop, and rap; I prefer it to the new stuff, but I'll listen to the new stuff too. Take It Off and Cruise are cool, but pretty much any Nicki Minaj song has me muting the radio. GaGa, Madonna, and Aguilera are cool. Haven't heard Maguire. But metal and it's assortment of sub genres is the best.
Gonna take a guess and say you're watcing Bones and Supernatural lol? I'm the same way though. Oh gosh yes Bad Girls Club is my guilty pleasure show. And sometimes I like to think about what would happen if my favorite characters were in the Bad Girls Club. xP Hella rad.
That's probably it though. Most people seem to think Nick is the only version out there and I'm just like Hell no! Not that one! exactly though, I don't know why people have to be all 'omg it's a kiddie show, grow up.' It's like freaking watch the show and tell me that. And even if it is a childish show, why is it so concerning, it's my life I'm going to do what I will with it.
