What did the "A" on Carols porch mean?

Has Sam done stuff with an 'A' before? I thought maybe it meant a leftover terminator had joined the ranks of the wolves and was like 'hiii remember me? imma eat your family.'

Yes. He has a big red 'A' stamp. He did a print on Rick's hand last season during the party and said 'You're one of us now'
