Elena knew that Damon was hurting. God knew she was torn up about it even though it wasn’t her fault that Katherine wasn’t in the tomb. It was her fault, however, that he had trouble trusting her. She took her vervain necklace off to prove that he could get an honest answer out of her, but that wouldn’t happen again; not unless there were special circumstances like last time.
She was a little scared of what he might do. Stefan told her that he overheard Anna telling Damon that Katherine was still alive and didn’t care about him. Apparently, she had been in Chicago in 1983. Who could say where she was now? This was worse for Damon in a way. Instead of his love being stuck in a tomb and being denied to him that way, he was without her because she made that choice. He was abandoned by a person who didn’t care enough to show up in the last 145 years. That had to be killing him.
He’d been holed up in the house since then. It had been a week since he found out that who he was looking for wasn’t there. Stefan said He went out only to feed and then he was right back to his locked up room. Something had to be done. Damon had been the cause of a lot of bad things and killed a lot of people but Elena felt a connection with him. Somehow, he cared for her and that was at least a bit of a redeeming quality.
Today, she made up her mind that she was going to try and fix this. She needed to talk to Damon without his brother because with Stefan there the elder vampire might not be in that great of a mood. He seemed to be more open when he was alone with her and she wanted that element to insure the best chance of getting through to him. Maybe find a way to make the pain not so fresh and life-sucking.
It was noon on a Saturday and Stefan told her he would be out of town searching for her real family. He wanted to help her and his attempts with Damon weren’t going anywhere so he wished to be of use in something. This was the perfect time to talk to a heart broken vampire.
But Damon wasn’t just a vampire, he was also a man. The feelings of a human didn’t just go away when you turned. If anything they intensified. He needed the same thing a pained human would: a shoulder to lean on (figuratively), a friend.
Here she was, on the front porch, ringing the door bell. No one answered. That didn’t surprise her. Stefan wasn’t home and Damon would probably ignore it, roll over and cover his head with a pillow if he was in bed. The door was usually unlocked though so she went right in.
The house was silent. No floor boards creaking, not even the sound of a clock ticking. There were no lights on and only the natural light from the windows illuminated the hall. She knew he would probably be in his room but she was going to check the down-stairs first to make sure. There would be no point in going all the way upstairs only to realize later that he was actually lounging on one of the couches oblivious to or ignoring her.
The parlor was empty. So was the kitchen and study. That was it, he was upstairs. She spun around to head towards the steps when suddenly she bumped into a figure that was in front of her as if appearing out of thin air. She stepped back a little. It was him.
His eyes where piercing hers and the flaring of his nostrils was highlighted by his frown. He was trying to piece together in his mind why she was there before actually asking her.
    “Damon-”
“Why are you here?” There it was. Maybe the vampire thought process was speedy too and he knew he would have to ask.
“We need to talk.” Elena said as firmly as possible. She knew he might brush her off if she sounded meek or wavered in any way.
He tilted his head indicating he wanted to talk upstairs and without a sound he turned and walked up with her following. His foot steps where light even with all the heaviness that must be on his mind and in his heart. He opened the door to his room, a place where she had only caught glimpses of, let her go in first and shut the door behind them.
“Yes?” He asked, crossing his arms.
“I know some of the things you’ve done based on what little Stefan has told me. I know that you have killed and recently; people I knew. You’re manipulative and harsh”, she began. His look said “Yeah, and?”
“But,” She continued, “I care about you. I care that you’re hurting. I know that I can’t fix it and make it all go away but I thought that having someone here and knowing that they honestly feel for you might ease it even 1% of 1%. That’s something isn’t it?”
He didn’t reply, only looked down in a silence that seemed to last forever. When she thought he wasn’t going to answer she said, “Okay...” and began to walk past him back to the door.
His hand shot out and caught her shoulder but didn’t grip.
“Could you... it might help if...” He didn’t look at her at first as though he couldn’t. He took an unnecessary breath, looked into her eyes and continued. “I just need to say goodbye. If it’s only an illusion, I don’t care. I need to convince myself that she at least felt enough for me to tell me goodbye. I need that, Elena.” He looked so honest and desperate.
“You want me to pretend to be her...” She said, understanding his meaning.
“Just for a little bit. Please.” Damon had never said please to her with such sincerity before.
But what would she say? She had never known Katherine. She wouldn’t know how to act, what words to choose.
She had to try though. The look on his face was tragic.
Without a sound she tilted her head up to his for a quick kiss before saying Katherine’s farewell. It would only be for a second and she knew it would make all the difference in the world for him. He would know after that she truly did care. She was willing to do him this favor.
She placed one hand on his cheek and kissed him; a soft innocent kiss. Now, to tell him all that he wanted Katherine to say except that one of his arms had slid around her waist and locked into place. He was staring into her eyes.
There was a soft alarm sounding in the back of Elena’s mind. “Da-” She began but was cut off by his mouth on hers.
This time it was completely different. This time he wasn’t being gentle; this kiss wasn’t soft. His other hand was suddenly at the back of her head, in her hair, and he was pressing her to him with a grip she couldn’t get out of. It wasn’t suppose to happen this way. She was suppose to comfort him and leave; have a meaningful conversation for however long he needed and then leave but he wasn’t letting her go.
She tried to push against his chest but it didn’t work. He was too strong and now he was moving her backwards until she was pressed up against a wall with his hands on her hips, holding her in place.
A flash of heat struck her. So much was hitting her all at once. There was adrenaline, mixed with aggravation and rage that he was taking it too far, but there was also desire. She was aroused and not just a little. Damon was doing things that would drive a girl to madness. His hands were squeezing her sides and she could feel his body only an inch from hers.
What was she going to do? If he didn’t want to let Elena go she wouldn’t escape him. He wanted to pretend that she was with Katherine so he could see her, in a way, one last time but how far exactly was he wanting to go with her? It had to end before he got worked up enough that nothing would get through to him.
“Damon, please.” She said in between kisses.
“You don’t have to ask, Elena,” He said with a pure devilish look on his face.
Her eyes opened wider. He wasn’t pretending she was Katherine at all! She was about to tell him to shove it when his mouth was on hers again, a full assault. He pinned both her hands above her head with one of his. He used the other one to grab the back of her knee and bring it up behind him just as he pressed himself against her. A shock wave went through her lower stomach.
His whole body was holding her captive to the wall and she was about to go mindless with how is erection was pressing into her between her legs.
Damon’s tongue found it’s way into her mouth but she was still fighting him. As pointless as she knew it was, she was using all her strength to get him to stop, that is until he thrust himself into her groin. Elena took a sharp intake of breath and couldn’t resist anymore.
When the vampire felt her give into it, he released her arms and she wove them around his neck. He let her just enough off the wall, smacked his hand to her ass and heaved her onto his standing body with both of her legs wrapped around him.
Oh my god, he’s heading for the bed, she thought, but couldn’t bring herself to fight again. His mouth was still on hers but then he stood her on the bed before him and grabbed her legs making her fall flat on her back.
It was only a split second before he followed her down. His kisses were getting fierce and he was slowly sliding his hand up her shirt and into her bra. He felt room temperature to her hot skin as he started to massage one of her breasts. Just then he slammed his lower body to hers and she couldn’t contain a groan.
Damon didn’t stop, he began a rhythm, mimicking sex, making a few sounds of his own. They were animalistic sounds; his rocking becoming faster and harder. None of her clothes were off but he was sending her over the edge. She was lost. Only a few more seconds and her mind would blow.
He knew she was almost there so he gave her one long push and she came apart. There was no thought except Damon and his beautiful strong body still strobing against her as she rode out the waves of pure pleasure that rocked through her body. And there were many of them. He kept alternating speeds so it would last longer.
Finally, Elena’s brain functions were returning as Damon nipped softly at her neck, sliding his hands slowly over the rest of her. But then suddenly he stopped and his head shot up.
“Wha-?” Elena was about to ask but Damon put his finger to his mouth to quiet her.
“Stefan.” He whispered and her heart began to race but now for a completely different reason.
God, how could I have let this happen? How could I have let Damon make me into a witless puddle of lust like that? Elena’s mind was spinning. He let her up and pointed to a chair on the opposite side of the room so that’s where she went, wobbly legs and all.
Before long, Stefan came through the door. First, he saw Damon, sitting on the bed. The elder brother’s face was calm and he put on a veil of boredom.
“You’re door’s unlocked. Does that mean you-” He cut off, catching Elena is his peripheral vision. “What’s going on?”
“You’re girlfriend decided I needed a heart to heart and I can’t get her to shut up,” Damon said feigning annoyance.
When Stefan looked to Elena to confirm Damon twitched an eye brow at her. He was right, he couldn’t get her to shut up because he was too busy making her squeal and moan.
“Yeah,” She went along with it glaring at Damon. “And if you would stop being so stubborn, maybe it would work.”
“Well, I’m, uh, going down stairs to make some tea. Come down when you’re ready?” Stefan asked her. Elena nodded and he walked out of the room.
Damon treaded softly over to a fan by the window and turned it on the highest setting, then walked to where she sat. There was no way she could get up right now, not with how shaky her legs still where. He had pushed her in a way that Stefan never had. Sure, she was satisfied after a night with Stefan but it was nothing like this. Damon proved he could do things to her that no one else had and they hadn’t even actually had sex. Just the thought of what that would be like with him was something she couldn’t comprehend and didn’t want to try.
“Stephan never finds out,” Elena whispered harshly when Damon bent down on his knees in front of her.
“Oh yeah?” he whispered back, and slowly started roaming his hands up her thighs. He griped her legs, yanking her to him. Could she even remember a time today that he was not between her legs? She pinched her lips together, trying not to show any indication of her body’s reaction to him. “And what are you going to do to keep my mouth shut?”
    Elena gasped.
