Damon-Bamon12  I agree with everything! Elena was getiing darn annoying and weird. She loves Stefan one time and then she's whining about how Damon forgot about her for a while. This is my opnion. :D

mish_mish personally i hate bonnie..she's way too weak to be paired with someone like damon. and with all my heart i wanted the author to kill stefan off.what elena and damon had was beyond love..that kind of passion just should not have gone invain. but i guess it's too late to hope for a happy ending for elena and damon.

Realist1 With books like these, you cannot help but feel drawn in by the story and you root for these characters and as you delve deeper into the story, some of the characters start to stand out from the others and you want the best for them. Bonnie is my favourite character, for a number of reasons and one of them happens to be that people underestimate her, when I believe her to be one of the strongest characters, beside Stefan and Damon, but mostly she is a sweet, caring, person, who would sacrifice herself for her friends sake. She might seem child like and naive to others, but her wanting to see the best in people is what helps makes her character shine, as well as seeing her personal growth through the books. Yes, she comes across as naive, but you see her developing and becoming stronger, as Damon and Matt both acknowledged this is Midnight. Seeing someone trying to underestimate Bonnie will be their downfall. She has so much to give and to grow, I can't help but wanting to read more and wanting the best for her. Stefan is a good guy, I think he is an o.k character, but I do at times find him boring and don't feel too invested in his story line at times. I think he is to quick sometimes to give into Elena and sometimes feel like his world evolves around Elena and I just want to see more of him, his own personal growth, but there is no way, I want him killed off. I haven't got much to say about Elena, because I didn't like her before, but now, after reading midnight, I don't care about her, full stop. I'm not interested in her character or personal growth. What she is doing to both the brothers, I think is just selfish. To me, she has not changed from the first books, it just that it is well hidden (not bashing, it's just how i feel about her character, so if it seems so, sorry). Damon is unique, the majority of us love him. He can have such a hard exterior, but you get to know him, and he has a softer, gentler side. Don't get me wrong, I think he cares about Elena a lot, how could he not, he has spent the time since he's known her, helping to protect her and hence, they have grown closer. Though I just think a lot of it is just infatuation, because somewhere down the line he has got his wires crossed with loving Katherine and then transferring that to Elena, so no, I don't believe it is genuine love. I still think it will be history repeating and that he will always be second choice and vice versa. Though, I don't think he will realise this, until maybe he does actually date her. The development I see out of Bamon, allows their characters/personalities to still remain intact. For instance, Damon still being the bad boy, whilst being able to show his softer side to her, because it seems he has a need to protect her and he will go all out to do this. We saw this in Midnight, when Shinichi had Bonnie and Damon whisking her away and being so affectionate with her, because he got her back. When he was under the influence of the Malach in The Return, we saw his shell breaking for her. I think Elena was only able to reach that part of him, due to her powers, whereas, seeing Bonnie in need of protection bought that side out of him. Bonnie and Damon come across as opposites and to put them together would not look like they makes sense, but, where Damon seems vicious, Bonnie is mild, however, when he goes out to protect her, he is so gentle, mild and caring and when Bonnie is in protective mode, she has strength, is fearless and can be stubborn, to protect the ones she loves (for instance, when Shinichi captured her in Midnight). When you bring these together, in this way, they make sense and they become a whole, because the opposite parts of each other, comes out, when they need to protect each other. So no, I don't think they're opposites at all and Bonnie would'nt be second choice to Elena, because Damon has not dated Elena, she is not a doppleganger and completely different personalities. In the last 2 or 3 books, Damon was not the same to me, he did not have that edge to him, especially in Shadow Souls. I just felt that the more he was around Elena, we lost that part of Damon and I wanted that back. If Elena belongs with anyone, it's Stefan(even though i'm not sure she fully deserves him), because of his personality, I think it will help her own personal growth. When Bamon happens and also through personal growth, I believe they will make a natural fit. Long post, I know.

erinr377 thanks guys, sorry it took so long for me to reply :( @realist1 I agree with you completely on Damon and bonnie and elena! although i quite like stefan :) when he is not obsessed with elena. He just let's her walk all over him and I wish we found see more of stefan as a character. Glad that yous agree with me! :) I wasn't sued of I was the only one who seen some of those things :)
