‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Caroline’s Engaged & Enzo’s Crush Is Revealed

When Caroline gets kidnapped by Lily & her Heretics, thanks to Damon and Bonnie’s Malcolm-murder, who’s the one person that can save her? Naturally, the only human left in town. Poor Matt.

Plus, Carenzo fans aren’t going to like this: we finally found out the lucky lady Enzo (Michael Malarkey), who we spoke to earlier this week about his upcoming love story, has been eyeing — and just who Caroline (Candice King) 

Enzo wasn’t on our favorite’s list after he kidnapped Caroline after Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) pulled their little killing spree on Malcolm; but the brothers didn’t expect Lily to sell their house and put it in Matt’s (Zach Roerig) name. The Heretics drained his blood of vervain, compelled him to buy it and to not invite in Damon or Stefan (Paul Welsey). So Bonnie attempted to kill him for a few minutes to break the seal — but they still couldn’t save Caroline. He found out that Lily (Annie Wersching) took Elena’s body to the river, and put a cloaking spell on it; she was the only one who knew where it was. So yeah, basically Lily has everything: Caroline, Elena, Mystic Falls, etc. Lily’s solution for Damon to get Elena back was to get him out of town — so he would, and while he was at it, find the sixth Heretic to make a bargaining deal out of him.

Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) lied to Bonnie and said he got rid of his evil

Phoenix Stone. Instead, he tested it on a dead body and it woke up for a quick second. So there’s a good chance he’ll be trying to bring Jo back real soon.

In other love news, we told you human Enzo was coming, and this week we saw some: he definitely cared about Caroline, but it was

who he was falling for. Yes really! He told her he wasn’t happy as “one of he children,” because he wanted to be 

But Caroline didn’t have so much luck in love. While being held captive, she was given Stefan’s journal and found out that he was

fond of Valerie, one of the Heretics, back in the day (you know, July 15, 1863). Plus, during a flash-forward we see she is engaged and has a good career — that is until her assistant says Stefan called and she tells him never to say that name again. And then they get hit with stakes, so.
