Katherine scan through the old books looking for clues. She was sitting in the with her legs cross over the arm. Damon was laying on the couch reading a journal. Katherine sighed and threw the book across the room.
"nothing" She said
"great" Damon said sarcastly.
Katherine turned to Damon "i'm hungry Damon" Katherine said.
"well your the unwanted house guest, go get it" He replied without raising his head from the book.
Katherine got up from the chair and went down to the basement. She opened the door and stepped inside, not knowing what was in there. She went to the fridge and opened it, grabbing a blood bag. She was about to leave when she heard a sound through her inhuman ears. She stopped and looked around, but no one was there. She turned around again to see what happen, when the dagger placed in Elijah's dead body started to rise. She quickly drop the blood bag and slammed both of her hand down on the dagger, trying to keep it in it's place.
Luka who was trying to take the dagger out spoke to his father through his witch sence "ah" he groaned
"what's wrong" His dad asked worried
"it's Elena. She's fighting me. And she's stronger than me"
"that's because it's not Elena, it's Katherine. Luka you have to kill her. take this stake and drive it through her heart" Dr. Martin said. He handed his son a black dagger with red designed on it. Luka took it and left Elijah alone.
Katherine put all her force into pushing the dagger back. Then all of a sudden it stop moving. She waited for about a second then let go of it. Luka was standing behind her waiting for her to turn around. Katherine turned and Luka was about to drive the stake into her body when she moved out of the way
"Damon" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
9 seconds later Damon appeared in front of door. Luka quickly took the dagger and was about to stab Katherine when Damon appeared in front of her instead. Luka quickly ran over to Elijah's body.
"Damon" Katherine yelled as Damon slupped to the ground. Damon look around and saw the dagger was moving. Katherine quickly ran next to Elijah and jammed her fist into to air. She pulled out her hand and Luka's heart was in it. She through the heart away and went next to Damon.
"it's okay. He didn't get me in the heart" Damon said smiling.
"no" Katherine said, she pulled out the dagger out of his body "but he used this. In about a minute or two you will."
"what"
"This dagger is use for originals only. If a vampire gets hit with it, it means instant death. Wheather it was the heart or not" She placed her hand over his wound.
Katherine took Damon and carried him upstairs. she sped up to the living room and layed him down on the couch.
she sat on the chair next to the couch.
"so how long before... death"
"depends on where the dagger was. which in your case not too far" She answered.
Damon looked at Katherine in anger. It was her fault this happened
"you scared" Katherine asked him.
Damon didn't answer and kept looking at the ceiling. "why did you call me."
"I needed help. i didn't think he would have taken a shot at you."
"That's because you never think of anyone but yourself." Damon screamed at her.
"that's not true Damon and you know it" She responded back in the same tone.
"yes it is" Damon yelled back. "why are you even here anyway"
Katherine looked at him. "well since your about to die, theirs no reason to lie to you anymore" She answered.
"so now you wanna tell the truth" Damon said sarcastic "okay. Tell me this... why didn't you love me"
Katherine sighed "really Damon. Now is the time you want to ask that"
Damon scoffed "i knew it. you'll never tell the truth"
Katherine sighed "i didn't love you because you weren't the right guy for me. I didn't love anybody, until Stefan said those things to me at the door--"
Damon interupted her "stop"
"you wanted to hear the truth" Katherine answered. Katherine was about to say another thing when she realized she hasn't been fair to Damon. "i'm sorry"
"what"
"i'm sorry i got you into this mess. That should have been me... not you"

"so now you care" Damon said looking at Katherine. He was smiling but stopped when he saw that tear were forming in Katherine eyes. "i didn't know you cry"
"even when your dying your still making jokes" She said in a sad voice
"what do you expect me to do, cry."
"well can you take it seriously"
"why. No one would ever cry for me" Damon said looking down.
why did you always put yourself down like that?" she said asked
"cause i heard were bad things about myself. no one really cared about me, only Stefan. And i made his life hell." Damon was about to continue on when he stopped. "i bet you can't wait to see me dead"
"NO. i don't want you to die Damon" she said
"yeah right"
Katherine moved next to Damon and put his head on her lap.
"it's true Damon"
"please. If it was me and Stefan in there you would have chose Stefan" Damon said
Katherine was about to answer when Damon screamed in pain.his arm were turning that nasty color gray and it was moving up quickly to his neck.
"Make it stop!" He moaned. she knew it hurt.
"I can't..." she said tears streaming out of her eyes
"PLEASE!" He screamed. "take me out"
"I'm sorry Damon!" she said as his face turned gray and his eyes shut forever .

"Damon" She said but there was no response. The tears that Katherine had been hiding came out. She started to cry. The man that had love her for a century was gone, just like that. She held Damon's lifeless body to her chest. She remembered all the mean things she ever said to him, and wished she could have taken it back.
"Katherine?" Elena's voice said coming in from the door.
"Over here." Katherine said in a broken sob
What wrong? Are you- Oh my God." She whispered, seeing Damon's body my arms. "What happened?"
"he saved me" Katherine answered
"So he...He's really gone?" She whispered, starring at his face. Katherine nodded."I can't believe it. Of all the people I thought I would ever see die."
"I know. Elena be strong" She said
"I can't believe this" she cried
Elena sat down on the couch looking at Damon. Then something hit her mind.
I'm tired Damon." she said walking closer to her bed
jhjhjhjh"I brought you this." He said, holding up her neckclace
hkjhkjh"I thought that was gone." she said. He smiled and shook his head head.
"Please give it back?" she said worried
"I just have to say something" Damon said, looking at her
"Why do you have to say i with my necklace?" she asked
"Because what I am about to say is probably the most selfish thing I have ever said in my life"
she knew where this was going
"Damon, don't go there." she said.
"No, I just have to say it once. You just need to hear it" he walked over to her, making her step back.
"I love you, Elena. And it's because I love you that...I can't be selfish with you." He said. "And why you can't know this I don't deserve you. Bt my brother does. God I wish you didn't have to forget this." He whispered, his finger tracing her cheeks softly. "But, you do." He looked into her eyes and compelled her, a single tear fell from his face. He kissed her forhead then dissapeared from her sight.
"he really had changed, and i treated him like a monster" She said in guilt.
"so did i" Katherine answered.
"i have to go" Elena said then ran out the house. Damon was gone forever. She sat down in front of the porch crying her eyes out. Damon had dissapeared from this world without her ever getting to say goodbye.... or that she loved him back.
Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we never know why

Will take away these tears
