Can a Vampire dagger another Vampire?

I'm just wondering...there was an episode that says if a Vampire dagger another Vampire they will all die.

I think it was the episode that Damon will almost dagger Elijah but Alaric ended up doing it.

It is also once said that if a Vampire undo a dagger in another Vampires chest they will die...

Can someone please explain...iss it just me or what?

No, vampires (but not supernatural beings - Elena can still dagger people) can NOT dagger Originals without dying in the process.

KLAUS however CAN dagger Originals due to the fact that he himself is an Original.

Yep, Damon daggerd Lexi and Rose (I know there are more but I forgot their names) but normal vampires can't dagger an Original or else they will dei as well. I think thats to do with the tree that was used to make the dagger.
