I just re-watched the Sound of Music and understood the scenes better especially with the Captain/Maria.
It took me forever, but I noticed that the Captain really was happy to see Maria when she came back to the Villa during the second Act. He was just hiding it in front of the Baroness and he looked really heartbroken when after asking Maria if she's here to stay, she said, "only until the arrangements for the next governess are made." Also, he got really affectionate while kissing Maria! ^_^

I have always loved the film and visit Salzburg regularly. I decided to write a novella, set in Salzburg, about a girl who works as a Sound of Music tour guide. It's called "Favourite Things" and is available from Amazon Kindle.

Hi, I'm making a television documentary about the 1960s for British broadcaster UKTV. I'd love to talk to any passionate Sound of Music fans living in the UK who bought the album in 1960s, who went to see the film when it first came out.
If this sounds like you or your Mum or Dad, I'd love to talk to you.

I'm a student at the university of Salzburg and I make a study about "The Sound of Music".
Please complete the following survey! It will take you about 20 minutes. I know that's a lot of time but I really need your help!
Sound of Music costumes - Wear Liesl's Dress from Sixteen Going on Seventeen! There is a great new pattern company called Edelweiss Patterns that has just released the pattern for Liesl's dress from her dancing sequence! Who hasn't always grown up wishing they could wear Liesl's dance? The dress is just gorgeous, and if someone was going to play Liesl on stage, this would be the pattern to use! You could wear it to a Sound of Music sing-along, too! Be sure to visit www.edelweisspatterns.com

Yeah I agree that it gets long after that point...but they have to include the part about them running away from Austria because that's what happened in real life!over a year ago
like the von trapp family in real life had to escape from austria. thats not HOW they escaped from austria but they had to show it in the movie to keep some realism in it.over a year ago
yeah! the von trapps and maria were all real people. except maria was not pretty like julie andrews in real life. the grandkids of the von trapp children still travel around and sing! :)over a year ago

The Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time! Everytime I watch it I react as if I were seeing for the first time. The same smiles, tears, and tingles.
