The Sims 2 Question

ive got the sims on my pc but i want it on my laptop cause my brother hogs the pc. my only dilemma is my laptop has vista, is there any way i can get the sims 2 on my laptop if i have vista? and if i put it on there will it delete my families?

I have windows 7 which is similair to vista and sims 2 works perfectly on it but if you do install the game on a different computer all your familys will be gone so you'll have to back it up.
