The Wide Open World
Here it is another day
Trying hard just to carry on
"Bring me my breakfast and sweep up the floor"
That's all I hear night and noon
Sometimes I want to run away
But this where I'm going to be
So I do, I keep wondering
If there's something more for me
Down the meadow, past the ravine
Does to grass grow, greener than green?
Are there places I've never dreamed of
Out in the wide open world?
Somewhere there's a miller's son
Just as handsome as anything
White ribboned ladies parade in the square
Longing to cling to his arm
Look at me, just a peasant girl
Destined to cling to her plough
So I do, I keep feeling
He's waiting for me now
Down the road there, just round the bend
Is there somewhere I'll find a friend?
Are there people loving each other
Out in the wide open world?
White dove in the silver sky
I've got apples and berries to give you
Wherever it is you fly
I'd be so overjoyed if you take me with you
Out where freedom awaits
Far beyond these fences and gates
No more sorrow, only tomorrow
Out in the wide open world
Would I discover the me that's inside
Out in the wide open world?
Here it is another day
Trying hard just to carry on
"Bring me my breakfast and sweep up the floor"
That's all I hear night and noon
Sometimes I want to run away

Rollo: Once there was a light here, now it’s gone forever
Daria: Gone forever.
Rollo: How blind was I? To say goodbye, to one so warm and pure
Daria: Everything I lived for.
Rollo: She was all I lived for
Daria: Where can he be?
Rollo: If only I had told her
Daria: What’s left for me?
Rollo: If only I could hold her in these lonely arms once more
Daria: I would gladly give my life
Rollo: I would give my life
Both: Meet death without fear. If for just one moment
Daria: He could be here
Rollo: She could be here
Daria: Lying there in pieces
Both: Falling all apart, is my kingdom of the heart.
Both: Oh tell me dear God, where on Earth can I go?
Where the face of my true love won’t follow.
All the stars above, have lost all their shine.
Merry music nevermore to be mine
Daria: Where am I to roam now?
Rollo: How am I to start?
Both: No more going home now, to my kingdom of the heart.
