It was at the Jim/Michael parts for me. "...what a great boss you turned out to be. The best boss I ever had, actually" broke my heart.

It was SO weird. I had never experienced any emotions in this particular way, for any other show. It's like the emotions just slowly kind of... snuck up on you, in this episode. The show did a really good job of making you feel very sentimental about it, without being too obvious that they were trying to make you cry. None of the scenes were over-the-top sad, on purpose. It was all very kind of, understated... but they definitely got the message across. It surprised me when my tears just randomly started falling lol, I dunno where they came from really.

No, I got misty eyed on some parts. Mostly Dwight reading his recommendation letter.

kellyerin said it just right. i just finished it and now i'm sitting here crying and you can't even pinpoint exactly why. one of the best episodes of the entire series. i'm surprised i would even think this but honestly this episode stands up as a contender for a best drama emmy.

good luck steve carrell. you have been america's favorite boss.

^^ Agreed. Once Dwight read the letter, I was crying, and when Jim started tearing up I lost it.

Omg I just finished it and I was bawling my eyes out, I had an emotional day and this episode actually helped me to just cry it all out lol. I thought it was an amazing episode... I think it was how michael is usually so upbeat and happy and during this episode, he was just down the entire time and I just felt for him. When Dwight started reading the letter and you could tell just how much it meant to him was when I first started bawling, then the Jim/Michael scene just topped it all off. And then michael looking at the office all teary eyed while no one noticed except gym, gosh I love this show so much and I especially loved this episode

YES, it kills me. And every time I re-watch the series, I always skip that episode because I just can't. this is literally the best show ever made. and to this day, i cannot understand why steve carell didn't win an emmy. i don't think anyone has ever played a character as well as him in the history of television. and rainn wilson is a runner up. oh why did it ever have to end :(((
