i think he had a terrible childhood. And this is supported by the repeated references to his mom marrying Jeff, those two tapes of Michael as a kid (fundle bundle and his mom's wedding where he pissed himself), and Phyllis saying everyone thought he was gay in high school.

People that tend to not have many friends act the way Michael does, because of maybe not being as social or that they're nervous to look like a fool so they over due their actions.

I think it's because of his childhood. He acts out now to fulfill his childhood wants and needs that were never fulfilled. Which was having friends, fun and being socially excepted. Basically I'm saying he is acting out what he didn't have as a child.

Well from what we know of his past his mother married a step dad he never liked, in fact a guy he hated... He had no friends in school, I remember he once said the person he talked to most to was the lunch lady. So I think he has a big fear of being excluded, and being alone, he just desperately wants to be liked, and to be a part of something...
