I'd say Packer is a necessary character. I think of him as the reason Michael is so screwed up. Michael strives to be like Todd Packer, but he can't be because Michael is (believe it or not) more mature that Packer. If it wasn't for Packer, Michael would be just like Jim or some normal character and the show's ratings would plummet.

If you don't do another character in the show who shows up once or twice, the show itself would get boring. With Packer showing up you can see everyone's hate of him. The tension would make it interesting.

P.S.: STILL WAITING FOR JAM TO PRANK PACKER!!!

todd's a real jerk, but who doesnt like when he somes into the office?

best packer moment: jim silly-stringing him at the christmas party after he passes out, and ryan and roy having to help him leave :)

Okay.. maybe I don't want to see him die. But I dislike the guy very much. He brings out the worst in Michael.

You need a character like Packer to be the extreme version of Michael. Without Packer, Michael would just be a jerk. But having Packer as a contrast shows that Michael's not trying to be insensitive. He just doesn't know any better.

Packer unites the rest of the office gang. They collectively hate him to death...except Michael.

Packer's already hit on Pam, haha, failed miserably. He's funny, but a total creep. Face it, if he didn't come back, I wouldn't miss him one bit. If he does, fine by me.
