The Legend of Zelda Skull Kids and the Lost Woods

Right, this has been getting a bit confusing. according to zeldaelements.net Kokiri/Koroks become Skull Kids if they stay in the Lost Woods.

But according to one of the gossip stones, only non-Kokiri/Koroks become Skull Kids.

"if Kokiri go missing in the Lost Woods, they turn into Skull Kids"

"When non-fairy folk enter the Lost Woods, they become monsters!"

Navi also mentioned something along those lines.

Anyone want to shed some light on the subject?

(Also, the Kokiri are sometimes referred to as fairy-like people)

Yup I think I have got it a little bit more cleared up.

I think only those who are children (Kokiri, Korok, or Hylian children) can become Skull Kids. The rest (Hylian adults and adults of other races become monsters but not necessarily Skull Kids.
