This is a new series of articles called "Boss Battles Guide". Every now and then (When I feel like it :P) I will post a detailed strategy guide of beating those pesky boss battles we all hate to fight. First up, the Deku Tree and Parasitic Armored Arachnid: Queen Gohma!
Overview
Once you enter the round room, you are committed! To begin the fight, press the up C button and look at the ceiling of the room. There will be a cut-scene showing the giant spider crawling around. It will fall from the ceiling and the battle will begin! *Bell dings* This is pretty much an easy fight, as this IS the first dungeon and boss within the game. It's basically a "wash-rinse-repeat" battle, so you should have no trouble getting this finished.
Beating Parasitic Armored Arachnid: Queen Gohma
As soon as the battle begins, quickly Z-target the eye and shoot it with your slingshot. Now, rush in and slash it with your sword. Now, it will crawl around the room, and onto the ceiling. Keep the spider Z-targeted and in range at all times here, as it will make this fight easier. Shoot again when the eye turns red and it stops moving, then repeat this.
Attacks used by the boss
Attack/Defend Order:
This attack is actually pretty rare for the boss to use, for the skilled LoZ player, or if you can shoot it down from the ceiling quickly. Queen Gohma will drop about three balls, these will hatch into tiny spider-like things. They can be quite annoying while trying to finish this battle, but are no match for your sword.
Bite:
This is the only attack that Queen Gohma actually uses. It involves attacking you while on the ground. This causes about 1/2 a heart of damage if you get hit by it.
Advanced Strategies
There are no real advanced strategies here. Just keep shooting when the eye is red and slash away.
The only real thing you can do is Jump-Strike each time you attack. This will cause 2x damage each hit. I managed to beat it in two rounds, the first one, and when it goes on the ceiling.
Difficulty: 3/10 (10 being very difficult)
I hope you enjoyed this guide. I wish there was more to cover for this fight, as it's one of my favs. Next time, we will be going into Dodongo's Carvern, to fight King Dodongo! So bring a Hylian Shield, because your wooden one will most likely burn! See you soon!~AKetchum01
