Oh book by far. No contest.

I was kind of disappointed by the movie, my expectations were too high.

Loved the book. The movie was okay but they cut too much out from the book.

The book for me, too. The movie was good in its own right, don't get me wrong---but it felt like the grittiness of District 12 was missing, and the true horror and gore of the Games was either not present or very distant. The idea is that you *have* to watch. Gale made it sound like that it was an option, which I utterly hated. Didn't like how tacky the Capitol's fashion was. Yes, their clothes are supposed to be insane, but I did not imagine them looking like rainbow puke. Imagined things sleek, flashy, and people with facial flair like designs and jewels.

Shaky cam wasn't good at all. But what blood it showed looked realistic, which is a huge plus. My biggest disliking is how they changed Rue's death. And how the mutt attack was at night. But I guess it had to be done in order to work with the PG13 rating. Parents and others still had issues with it even then! But I guess a lot never expected it to *actually* show a little child's death?

As opposed to complying with the book, 'The Hunger Games' Movie altered a little too much. For instance, in the book, Peeta has his leg amputated. However, in the movie, no such thing happens. What is more, Katniss was given the Mockingjay pin by Madge Undersee, in the book. But in the movie, Katniss gets it from a shop and likewise, Madge does not even make an appearance!!!! :D Notwithstanding the fact that Jennifer Lawrence portrayed her character superbly, her character was meant to look emaciated and unwashed. Nonetheless, Katniss appeared to look healthy and well-nourished and in the book, Hunger really depicted the character of District 12, as all its inhabitants were impoverished.
Despite the above stated, I thought the movie was enjoyable and each character portayed very well however, seeing as the first movie did not abide completely by its book, I am not feeling extremely alacritious about 'Catching Fire'. In spite of all said, I do not mean to condescend those involved in the concept of the movie and am actually quite excited about the next one. :D
