The Hunger Games

For English class not too long ago, we had to write our own Shakespearean sonnet, since we were at the time going to start reading Othello. I wasn't too sure what to write for my sonnet, but after thinking about it for a long time, I got the idea to write a sonnet based on The Hunger Games. I had an idea to write a sonnet of Rue's death, since it is such an emotional scene. I wrote it as if Katniss was speaking to Rue. I wanted to share it with you fellow Hunger Games fans... I hope you like it!




When I look upon thy young fading life

Thou see the light escaping from your eyes

Gale raised one of his eyebrows and looked at the excited looking Peeta with a disdainful look. "Truth or dare? What are you, a twelve year old girl?"

"Hey!" both Prim and Rue said, looking at Gale with death glares.

"Actually, I'd love to play truth or dare!" Katniss declared and sat down next to a shirtless Finnick, trying to form a circle.

"Oh... yeah, me too!" Gale agreed immediately, looking at Katniss with a soft, loving expression.

Peeta snorted at him. "Dude, you're so pathetic."
