MeaganR I agree that without a background or anything the way she's sitting looks a little out of context..but this is really much more how I imagine Katniss than some of the other pictures. She looks a bit stand offish and bored, while at the same time appearing sad and scared. As for the position, I think it's a great representation of the fact that even if she's dressed up and "capitol-ized", she still exudes a certain casualness and girlish demeanor. Katniss was never meant to be graceful and elegant in my eyes, she is agile and strong in battle, but she doesn't set much stock in social propriety. This is just my take though. The beauty of a book is that everyone can make their own mental imagery.

BlueBrooke ^ Totally agree with MeaganR, this is how Katniss is supposed to look: Just a girl from the Seam who's been thrown into a pretty dress and ultimately "prettified," even though at heart she's too casual to sit erect with her legs crossed. Perfect.
