I held Annabeth in my arms, seeing her eyes watering. I smoothed back her dirty blonde curls, looking at her dulling gray eyes, my heart breaking.
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight...
I picked her up gently, taking her to the couch and laying her on my lap softly. I kissed her forehead gently, murmuring gentle things to her.

The sun is going down

"Percy..." Annabeth said, her voice weak. Her eyes fluttered open to look at me.
"Shh.. Don't talk. Rest, Annabeth." I rubbed her back gently as she curled into me, crying softly. My heart broke."

Annabeth tried to look out the window, to see the war. "Annabeth," I whispered. "Don't look out there, please..."
She looked anyway, the fires of Manhatten reflecting in her stormy gray eyes. "Percy.. Our home.." She sounded heart broken, and tried to get up.
