Here's a little introduction to The Farm...

At the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour yesterday, Showtime president Robert Greenblatt released a few details about the pilot for the L Word spinoff, a drama series set in a women's prison and tentatively titled The Farm.
The pilot has been shot, Greenblatt told reporters, but Showtime execs have not yet seen it cut together.
One of the characters from The L Word actually goes to prison, and the show then moves to prison with a largely completely new cast. ... While The L Word was predominantly lesbian characters, [the spinoff has] a big group of characters.
It looks like this show is really coming off the ground :)
Initially, a 20min promotional pilot had been made so that Showtime could descide whether or not to go through with this concept. The showing went well and the Pilot for the farm has been shot.
From what I can gather, this show will not be completely lesbian-based like The L Word. While I certainly like the fact that this show will have a varied set of characters, I do hope that the LGBT side of the show will be as good as it was on The L Word.
The show will start with Alice, after being convicted of murdering Jenny, she is incarcerated in California's Humboldt State Farm and Prison for Women. Arriving alongside with Alice is Valentina Galindo; another main character on 'The Farm' portrayed by Famke Janssen.
Of course we don't know the exact circumstances of Alice's lapse to the dark side (mainly due to the fact that we haven't seen the conclusion of this final season of The L Word) but I hope that Alice will keep a bit of her childishly sweet innocence. It would certainly be interesting to see that side of her character set against the background of jail.
According to IMDB about 10 people are known to have been cast for The Farm. I listed some of their work, mainly the parts I thought you might know them from :)
