There comes a time
there comes a moment
when everything seems clear

we are settled
established in our routine
and everything seems clear

creatures of habit we are
growing accustomed to the tedium
everything seems clear

the routine of our lives
is not one of greatness
but everything seems clear

and then....

out of the ashes and rubble
from the dregs of our society
while we are so deeply mired
in filth and impropriety

a dark knight rises
and illuminates the earth (pun intended)
its a reawakening of life
a new beginning, a rebirth

like a phoenix from the ashes
a babe at mothers breast
optimism rekindled
negativity repressed

its the feeling of trust
that mankind will thrive
hope for humanity
and hope that all will survive

a hero can be many things
one who puts a cloak
around a child's shoulders
when he's feeling broke

but a hero can also be
the thing that comes on top
and gives hope to all people
and gives that feeling, that pop

they say that hindsight is twenty-twenty
and that retrospect is most clear
but I humbly disagree
and my own opinion i bear

I say that its precisely now
at moments like these
when we can see the clearest
and when our minds can rest at ease

for although we are deeply mired
in filth and stupidity
everything seems clear
and i am filled with serenity
