Dan is bad, but I don't think anyone can compare to the horribleness of Anthony Cooper! He pushed his son through a window, made him paraplegic, he conned Locke into donating a kidney...etc etc.

And at least Dan, and all the others (even Aaron Echolls, Ben Linus, Irina, etc), care to some extent about their sons/daughter - some more than the others, some maybe very little, but at least they care on SOME level - Anthony doesn't care and NEVER cared AT ALL about Locke. And the things he did to him were horrible..
