Just opinion here (obviously), so no bashing intended but this is just what I feel. I know TVD books came before Twilight AND The Sookie Stackhouse Series but I feel that making the show after those two BLEW up is just genetic and looking for money in the Vampire pop culture phenomena these days. And I know I didn't keep up with the show but I'm not just saying because that's what I think, when the pilot and 2nd episode premiered I watched them with an open mind, and was so disappointed I was just.. laughing. I mean it feels like True Blood and Twilight pushed together with bad acting (apart from Ian apparently?) and a really odd storyline that is apparently surprising or whatever. I think the main attractions are Damon and Delena it seems, just like I know people that love True Blood for Eric and Sookic/Sooric. Lemme just put this out there, main girls, Sookie, Bella, Elena, doing what they usually do in their usual environment. Then a really really HOT vampire comes in there life, this being Bill, Edward and Stephan, And the first looks are both steamy and apparent that they are like, totally soulmates. Blah blah, time passes, they do whatever, and they comes this OTHER guy into the girls life, and for whatever reason alot of the viewers prefer this one to be the guy to sweep the lead off her feet, AKA, Eric, Jacob and Damon. More time passes, she kind of sorta likes both though sometimes she HATES the bad guy, lalala. I just felt while trying TVD that it was the newest money making scheme and it was going to be big just because even though we've seen it all before, everyone eats it up anyhow. Again not trying to bash or say it's not a show for everyone, because I know alot of people that love it, which is cool, but all I'm saying is that it's becoming big for no reason. Everything about it screams generic and that's why I can't watch it.

Damon and Delena are overrated, but the show itself deserves the attention.

Um. The show is actually not horrible. I mean there's no cliche love connections (like Twilight) A lot of the romance is sex xD That's what I hated about Twilight; too much "you are my life".
Of course I did feel that the vampire craze brought on the show because the books are really different from the show.
But the only reason I watch it is because Supernatural is on right after XD

My friends and I started watching it while GG was on its four month hiatus and while it was good enough for a fill in, we usually just end up laughing at it. There are definitely things it could improve on.

This show's only a hit cause of the whole "vampire fuss", otherwise it would've been canceled already just like Moonlight (wich was a much better show btw) was, months back.

Yes, it is. I only watch for Damon, Delena, and Jeremy&Anna even (somewhat).

I found myself more excited for TVD than for any other of my 15 shows that I watch :D So it seems to me like it's not overrated because it's really hard to win me over all those other shows, some of which I have watched years before TVD started.

Well, I watched and I thought it was boring, and the girl bugs me like crazy (not sure why)...I don't think it's extremely overrated.....YET, but as time gos by it will probably get really overrated

Everyone always seems to foget about the most usccessful vampire series Buffy, ive always loved the vampire tv shows i love this one and true blood and especially BTVS and Angel!

I'm going with the "yes" option, because I honestly cannot see what's so great about it.

I watched the pilot. Was not impressed. I'll catch a few minutes now and then when I'm waiting for Supernatural to come on, and it just looks... bad. I know that Ian & Paul are capable of being great actors - never seen the chick before, but those two have the talent. But all the acting on the show is horrible. It's so forced, like a soap opera or something. My theory is either the directors suck or the actors just don't care, because the show blows. ;)

Also, is this the appropriate place for me to bitch about that fucking green hue that hides Ian's amazing eyes? YOU HAVE A GIFT, CW, DON'T HIDE IT! =P

I do actually really like it, but at the same time I just see it as another vampire show with zero originality.

It is still very new so it is far from Overrated in my opinion.....I like the Twilight Movies not interested in the books and as far as True Blood goes how about I not comment the things I have to say about it is not very nice.

but it deserves all the hype <3
