I'd been considering giving 'Supernatural' a chance when it first aired in my country until I saw the promos.
It was advertised with the tagline 'scary just got sexy' but just that, the commercials had practically no dialog or hint of plot to let you know if the show was good, just action shots with 'scary just got sexy' which made the show seem shallow to me, if that was all they were basing it on. The only ads for it I saw were focused 100% on sex appeal and not at all on plot.

I've heard good things about the show since so I'll probably get around to watching it eventually, just think that was a really bad way to advertise the show if it's good as I wasn't the only person I know who was put off by the way it was advertised.

Just wondering if anyone else had ever been put off a show they may otherwise have watched by bad promos, or given second thoughts about a show.

Sometimes if a thing get's hyped up too much it can put me off watching it.

I never really look at promo's, I normally watch shows that people recommend for me. The problem is my friends don't watch many shows so I don't get ideas for shows often

If I want to watch something I watch it. If I would have gone by advertisements I would never watch anything because most of them don't truly convey what the show is about.....Like Supernatural or Dollhouse.

Dollhouse! They kept releasing promos of Eliza half naked over and over again and then there was that truly horrible video promo of Eliza & Summer Glau and seriously, if I didnt know it was a Joss show and therefore already loved it, I probably would have thought Ew, no.
