Ana Mercedes
Ana Mercedes
Actress Ana Mercedes brings some Motherly chaos to TNT’s police drama “Major Crimes" in the episode titled 'Internal Affairs' airing on January 5, 2015.

Audiences will recognize the Costa Rican native from her role as Maya Resik on the CW series “Arrow”; and her roles on CBS’s “NCIS: LA,” Showtime’s “Rude Awakening,” NBC’s “The West Wing,” FOX’s “Melrose Place” and three years on soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful.” She also appeared in Mike Nichols’ feature film, “What Planet Are You From?” with Octavia Spencer and John Goodman; and in Judd Apatow’s comedy, “Knocked Up.”

When she’s not on screen, Ana spends time giving back to her community. For her efforts, she received the first ‘Centro America Unida: Premio a la Excelencia’ award and the ‘Los Angeles Outstanding Enhancement Award’.

I recently caught up with Ana Mercedes to find out more about “Major Crimes.”

Tell us about your role in “Major Crimes.”

ANA: In the upcoming episode of “Major Crimes” I play the Mother of Detective Julio Sanchez and I get caught up in some serious criminal activities.

How was it to work alongside Mary McDonnell and Raymond Cruz?

ANA: It was good. I had a really nice time working alongside Mary McDonnell; among other things we talked about the community where she now lives and what a great place it is to raise children there. I also had long conversations with Raymond Cruz. He was very supportive throughout the entire shoot. He's also very interesting to listen to.

What would you consider your characters ‘best’ quality? And their ‘worst’?

ANA: I would say that Ramona Sanchez best quality is how spirited she is and her worst is how she lets her thoughts take over.

Any interesting stories from the set you can share with us?

ANA: It was a very well run set; the taping of the show was smooth. While the crew does lighting and set-up you can chat with your fellow actors or go over your lines. Sometimes when you are on set the words pick up a deeper meaning.

What’s the biggest lesson you learned from working on this project?

ANA: At the end of the day it is your family who stands with you.

And, now just for fun:

What’s your favorite food?
ANA: I have lots of favorites but...I can never say ‘no’ to pizza!

Cats or dogs?
ANA: Well, I had two cats: Spooky and Oreo, but none right now, I just keep visiting Bruce my son's cat ,he was with us for two years, so we have some sort of relationship.

Favorite movie from your childhood.
ANA: I loved Romy Schneider, so I would say her two movies: “Sissi” and “Sissi - The Young Empress” have been my favorite movies since I first watch them.

Tell us one thing that would surprise our readers to learn about you.
ANA: I exchanged my Quinceanera for the opportunity to study in Los Angeles, it paid off.

How can fans keep up with you?
ANA: Fans can see me in the next season of “True Detective.”

First it was Jack Carr’s best-selling book, then it premiered as Amazon’s #1 drama series of the summer – we’re talking about “The Terminal List” starring Chris Pratt.

The series tells the story of Lt. Commander James Reece after a secret Navy SEAL mission turns deadly for his entire team. Faced with accusations of culpability, Reece is hell bent on finding out what happened and seeks revenge on those responsible for destroying his life.

Korean-American actor John Adkins portrays Isaac ‘Crazy’ Kim, a member of the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). The team is called in...

If you haven't been watching HBO’s "BARRY" then you’re missing out. The series just concluded its sophomore season and proved yet again why it’s the savviest show on television.

If case you haven’t seen it…

The series comes from Aleg Berg (“Silicon Valley” co-creator) and Bill Hader (of “SNL” fame) and follows low-level hit man Barry Berkman (Hader) seeking a life change. While on a hit in Los Angeles, he follows his target into acting class and finds his new passion – acting. His new girlfriend, Sally (Sarah Goldberg), doesn’t know he’s a hitman and his handler, Fuches...

New York has a long history with delivering some very funny television shows starring some very big personalities. Think “Seinfeld,” “30 Rock,” “Friends,” and tons of others that have brought big laughs as they offered up crazy stories about The Big Apple. And, they’ve also given opportunity for hundreds of actors to show off their comedy chops.

One such actor is Kyle Klaus, who steps into the small screen comedy arena with appearances on two very different shows. He recently helped launch season two of SyFy’s oddball dark comedy “Happy”; and coming up, he joins the hilarious...

Her new educational outing brings a fresh pack of college besties, including ‘Josie’ played by actress Rachael Meyers. I just finished reading a list of the "greatest" LGBT characters ever on TV. I was not impressed. So I decided that instead of wasting time bitching about their lame list, I'd just make my own. Weird, huh? ;D

This was originally going to be a list of 10. Then I kept thinking of more. I finally managed to cut myself off at 25. There are a lot of great LGBT characters out there, okay? Anyway, these shouldn't contain any show spoilers, so here ya go:

If you’re a fan of Showtime’s hit show “Shameless,” then you already know you're up for another season full of crazy Gallagher family antics.

The second episode of Season 5, titled “I’m the Liver,” premiered last night, introducing actor Dean Li as the ‘Twink’. He’s a friend of Ian and Mickey, who gets caught up in a patriotic moment and finds himself willing to take one for the team – or ‘give one’ actually.

Dean explains, "I can't say I relate to my character, but he's part of a story that's important to tell and one that definitely lives up to the title of the show, I think.”

We also just found out this was Dean’s television acting debut. That’s right – first time out and he’s already proving to be fearless. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Vivian Kerr
Vivian Kerr
If you’ve been watching TV lately, then you’ve definitely seen Vivian Kerr at work. Of course, you might not have realized you were watching the young character actress, since she seems to transform herself from role to role -- but you probably were.

Vivian’s latest TV appearance is in the current episode of Showtime’s sexually charged drama “Masters of Sex,” in which she heads back to the 1950’s portraying a wife who looks to Dr. Masters for help with her husband.

In case you missed Vivian, not to worry. On October 8th, you’ll be able to catch her as a distraught sister in an...

Actor ERIC SATTERBERG will go from one extreme to the other with his two upcoming television roles. Up first, he’ll die a horrible death on the series finale of Spike TV’s “1000 Ways to Die,” scheduled to air on April 30th; and then later this year he’ll go for gut-busting laughs with an appearance on Nickelodeon’s award-winning kid favorite, “iCarly.”

I recently caught up with this hard working actor and had a chance to ask him about these roles, his favorite TV shows and more.

HOLLY: Tell us a little about your role on “1000 Ways to Die.”

ERIC: I play Ira. He is a little...

If you’re a “Justified” fan, then you’ll definitely be interested in meeting actress Arriane Alexander, who portrays one of the newest recurring characters on the FX show: Officer Susan Crane.

We caught our first glimpse of Officer Crane during the season premiere episode and now she’s back for more in tonight’s episode, “Over the Mountain.” Office Crane is the tough prison guard at Harlan County Jail who watches over the incarcerated Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter), wife of bad-boy Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).

In real-life Arriane is nothing like the burly character she portrays....
