Taylor Swift was born in the city of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.
At the age of ten, Taylor began writing songs and singing at karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs around her hometown.
After being dicovered during a karaoke performance she began showing her talent in weeknight performances of country songs with karaoke backing tracks.
Emboldened by her performances and growing audiences, she began to perform in other local open mike and karaoke nights. Her first major show was a well-received performance at the Bloomsburg Fair, arranged by local performer Pat Garrett.
Swift started writing songs and playing 12-string guitar when she was twelve. Swift began to regularly visit Nashville and wrote songs with local songwriters. By the time she was fourteen, her family decided to move to an outlying Nashville suburb.
Swift then performed at Nashville's songwriters' venue, The Bluebird Café, catching the attention of Scott Borchetta who signed her to his newly-formed record label, Big Machine Records.
Hope this helped! :)

addition: When she was twelve, she practiced the twelve string guitar four hours a day, until her fingers bled.
Taylor was born in Pennsylvania (I forget what town), but Nashville, Tennessee is where she lives now (when she's not on tour). She says Nashville is her hometown because she's lived there most of her life, but she was born in PA. Also, Nashville is her most favorite place to be.
Taylor swift was born in the reading hospital in reading pa. That's exactly where I was born! She grew up in Wyomissing Pennsylvania on a christmas tree farm. Awesome we were born in the same hospital and she is my favorite singer!!!
