Tattoos Question

Is my tat supposed to hurt this badly?

I got my first tattoo this last Wednesday, it didn't hurt so badly when I was getting it done but now it hurts to even stand. There is still some swelling and it's starting to scab over.
I'm concerned about the fact it hurts to move even a little bit, it doesn't itch or anything like this, and there are random parts that are swelling more than the rest.
Should I be concerned?
Is my tat supposed to hurt this badly?

Since I've posted this the swelling has gone down a lot, only a few places are still swollen. I think it was just telling me that it was ready to scab over so it can heal :)

This is not medical advice, just my opinion. I think it's normal that it hurts that much. You have it in a place that really takes part in every move you make, which is probably why it even hurts to move. If it's still hurting that bad after a week or a week and a half, something could be wrong.
For now though I think you're ok. It's a pretty big wound to your body, so it's going to hurt for a bit.

Like I said, if it's still hurting that bad after a week or week and a half, I'd see someone about it.

Alright. I knew I was getting it in a really sensitive place but it since it didn't hurt so badly when I was getting it done. Like I said this is my first tattoo so I'm trying not to freak out. I'm more concerned about the random swelling, there's no rhyme or reason to the places that are swelling more

Make sure you're washing it gently with soap and applying something like Aquaphor (that's what I used on mine). Try using an ice pack to reduce the swelling

My artist told me I could skip the aquaphor and just go straight to cocoa butter
