I've heard Season 5 premier will air on Thursday 10th September on CW(US) and in January on Itv2(UK).
From the start they never wanted it to be too long, because then they'd have to stretch out the storyline and create more questions and answer. Both Kripke and J2 have expressed feeling of doing a season 6, and they may have a contract for it. But I'm thinking if they do have a season 6 Kripke won't be involved in it. Surely we will find out soon.
I wish it didn't have to end, but all good things have to come to an end.. and I don't want the show to be rushed or be pressured to be produced because of CW ratings. I only hope if it does continues, the brotherly bond will be secure and no one dies.. at least till the end lol.
As you already know there is going to be a Fifth season but they are not sure if it's going to be the last one.. it's gonna depend on how season 5 will turn out in terms of ratings, everything is still out in the open! And they will start shooting in july and the show is gonna air sometime in September and it's gonna have 22 episodes! And that's all i know =)

Thanks a lott, you al have been very useful ! and i cant wait to see season 5 and i dont think it will be the last, although i can see why this may be a good place to end SUPERNATURAL !! *tears* Anyhoo... Tah xx
Supernatural fans have reason to be excited today. Even though the premiere of season 5 is far away, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles recently appeared at a European convention where they gave fans a lot of hope for Supernatural season 6.
Some people worried that a sixth season would result in a completely different show, but Jensen confirmed to the Coventry Telegraph that he and Jared both have six-year contracts for the show, meaning if CW president Dawn Ostroff picks up Supernatural for season 6, Sam and Dean will both be in it.
definitely yay!in the convention in birmingham, both jared and jensen said they have a six year contract but eric doesn't. so if there is a season 6, eric won't be producing/directing it. season 5 is starting on september 10 in america. so fingers crossed there will be a season 6- another chance to see my favourite bro's of all time
Yes and it started filming July 1 or 2. As far as when Supernatural will end...no idea. Our favorite creator, Kripke, has always had what he calls a "five year plan" but with the fantastic ratings Season 4 got, there are lots of noises from the network that a Season 6 is not out of the question, depending on how Season 5 goes.
Unfortunately, it's up to the network how long the show runs. J2 is contracted through 6 seasons...Kripke is contracted for 5 seasons. I say unfortunately because as the creator, I think it should be up to Kripke how long the show is on the air. I do agree with him, however, that the show should go out on top, before they "jump the shark" in real life, not just in an episode title.
