I see alot of Padme vs. Leia questions along with Luke vs. Darth Vader or Anakin. More the Padme vs. Leia. But did we ever stop and think that maybe we dont have to compare them or maybe one doesnt have to be better than the other becaue they are the Skywalker family. There is a new fanpop spot for them. Maybe you know. But Padme gave her angelic beauty to Leia, and Leia does have her mothers will to do good-both being senators- but there is alot of her Father in her. Leia is very fiesty and bullheaded. Luke on the other hand has also inherited more of his mothers will to do good, I believe that is why when he left before his trianing was complete he didnt fall to the dark side. And when he got angry and impatient like His Father, He didnt succumb to the Dark side either. Of course seeing his aunt and uncle murdered helped him realize he has to stop the Galatic Republic rather than join them. Unlike Anakin who when he saw his mother killed by the Sand people, didnt realize that turning to the Dark Side of the Force and becoming as Sith to Avenge her or save Padme would make him more evil than the Tuscan Raiders. But as you watch the movies Im sure you all notice irony and forshadowing throughout the whole series. Especially if you watch the prequels first. Obi Wan- to Anakin " Why do I feel your going to be the death of me" Or when Boba picks up his fathers helmet. The Force is all around us. So, with that said May the Force be with you.

New1Superion2 Other than "Galactic Republic" rather than "Galactic Empire", good article. You've brought up some good points. Interestingly the young Skywalkers not only got the good genes, they also had healthier upbringings. Leia raised by the Organa couple, Luke raised by the Lars couple, while Anakin having been raised mainly by Obi Wan/the Jedi Order. While all three were taught to be/do good, to be strong/determined, to stand up/fight for what they believe; somewhere down the line Obi & the Jedi failed. Perhaps all the tragedy could have been avoided if Qui-Gon Jinn had been more forceful in negotiating the release of Anakin AND his mother or had Cliegg Lars been able to protect Anakin's mother from the Sand People. Then again, we wouldn't have the Star Wars Saga ;p JD

Then again, we wouldn't have the Star Wars Saga.[/i] How? Watto had made it clear that he would involve one Skywalker in his bet with Qui Gon. And he was impervious to the Jedi mind trick. How could Qui Gon force Watto to release Shmi?

New1Superion2 DR76, At the time of my prior comment I was thinking Qui-Gon should just free her forcibly. Though, now I believe he might also have been able to accomplish this by threatening Watto with economic or political interference by the Jedi Council, or something subtle like that. As for Cliegg, admittedly I'm not knowledgeable about those circumstances, in which Shmi was kidnapped. At the time I was saying that if he were a soldier/warrior, that the Sand People probably wouldn't have been able to take her. Those are as good an answer that I can give you. JD
