Reasons why Anakin is one of my least favourite characters in the whole Star Wars saga.

1. His annoying-as voice. The way he says 'Master', among other words, drives me crazy!
2. He thinks he's so awesome, the way he thinks he is better than Obi-Wan, he can rival master Yoda as a swordsman, and he is more than ready to pass the trials. If he was, he would learn to control his anger, and not be so angry with Obi-Wan and the Council
3. He is too angry. His line in episode III: "I HATE YOU!" to Obi-Wan was completely unreasonable. Can anyone tell me why he would have reason to say such a thing? I would love to hear your explanations.
4. I understand his committed love to Padme, and that is why he turned to the dark side, but surely there was a better way to do things! He would have to be pretty weak to believe Sidious!

Well, that is all I can think of for the moment, but if I think of any later, I'll post it in the comments. Please remember that this is only my respectful opinion, and I would love to hear other peoples opinions, disagreements, etc. (Kindly, though, please)

fruitsofmalice 1. Your opinion on his voice is completely your own, I don't know what to say to that. I personally love it. 2. Every padawan from the age of 16 and up must constantly beg their masters to take the trials, he's probably not the only one. Also when people push the whole chosen one thing onto him he does have a lot of pressure to be amazing at things, some of that may have went to his head, but it's his personality. When you're a slave you are never prasied for the things your good at, and you're worth nothing to the masters, so now (my take on it) he wants to be good at things. He want's people to be proud of him, but having so much of this made him a little too arrogant, thought he is still pretty gifted. 3. Well he yelled I hate you because OBI WAN CHOPPED HIS ONE GOOD ARM AND LEGS OFF LEAVING HIM IN THE LAVA!!!! That's DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO HATE SOME ONE FOR! Also he thought Obi wan was involved with Padme so...what can I say? 4. He's not weak, just very desperate to save Padme and his child...wouldn't you do something like that? If someone you loved and your child were in grave danger, would you do anything you could to save them? Palpatine was the Chancellor, and thats like supposed to be the most trusted man in the galaxy right? He acted like the farther Anakin never had. He didn't know he was a sith at the time, but after? I can't defend him on the after part, his wrong-doing... I respect your opinion and all, but Anakin is my second favorite, so...soft spot for me :) I also hope I'm not sounding like a jerk, that's not what I wanted. I just felt the need to express my opinion.

Summer_Leanne Hiya!! I'm a big fan of yours, so no hard feelings on what I'm about to post. I just really truly adore Anakin, and I always have. He's my number 1 favorite Star Wars character EVER!!!!!!!!! (next to Padme and a few others, of course...way too many to name lol) I totally and completely respect your argument, so please don't be offended by my take on Anakin :) I'm sorta biased towards him, as well, since he is my favorite. 1. His voice was really deep, so I can see your point, but I adore his voice. I think it suited Anakin perfectly <3 2. Padawans are like "sophomores." Sophomore means "wise fool." They are intelligent, but they often, if not ALWAYS, overestimate their abilities. They are still at the learning stages, although they do not actually realize this. They don't fully understand the meaning of humility. With each new thing they learn about fighting tactics and the Force, they become more and more cocky. As time goes by, however, they soon realize that the more you know, the more you realize you DON'T know. Obi-Wan, in a sense, was similar to Anakin when he was a padawan. Obi-Wan often thought that QuiGon's answers were not always suitable for certain situations, but in time, he gained humility. My point is this: padawans are still growing up, hence their blinding hubris. They are padawans for a reason; they are still maturing. Anakin's actions were no different. He thought he could undergo the trials and turn out to be the greatest Jedi in history (which he was, in my opinion), but he was impulsive/impatient and wanted to get his training over with right then and there. It's normal teenager attitude...hormones are a serious thing, you know! lol :) All in all, I think his inexperience and young age justifies his brashness. 3. Anakin was being a little too dramatic, but he had turned to the Dark Side by then...the Sith are known to over-emphasize things. That's why they deal in absolutes. Obi-Wan did cut off Anakin's legs, but I think he was justified in doing so; Anakin was obviously going to stop at nothing to make certain that Obi-Wan was dead along with the other Jedi and younglings. It was Anakin's punishment for harming so many innocents, including children. Still, I don't believe Anakin himself was wrong to scream "I HATE YOU!!!" at Obi-Wan because, well, he was on the verge of death...he was utterly scared, disappointed, angered, and saddened. I don't blame him. On the contrary, I pity him. I HATED seeing him so beaten and bruised, especially when his good intentions were manipulated wrongly by Sidious :( 4. The entire reason why he DID turn to the Dark Side is because there WASN'T any other way to save Padme. Think about it...you see a vision of your spouse laying on his/her death bed, but you don't know when or where they are dying. How can you possibly save them with such a lack in information? It's humanly impossible, which is why Anakin needed "superhuman" powers to save her from death; he needed to be able to help her overcome death. When Palpatine told Anakin about the "superhuman" abilities that can be offered through the Dark Side, Anakin instantly fell into the Chancellor's trap because: 1. He didn't know the powers of the Dark Side, so he was gullible and naively trusted Palpatine; 2. Anakin knew that the only way to save a person from inevitable death was to have the power to help that person overcome death. So really, Anakin was also justified in turning to the Dark Side to save Padme. It was the only possible way.

Jawas4eva Yeah, yeah, OK, I see I'm outnumbered. But I'm sure there are lots of others who share my opinion, I know a couple. Oh yeah, BTW fruitsofmalice, my opinion of his voice isn't ENTIRELY my own, I personally know many people who dislike his voice too. Anywho, thank you for sharing your opinion, I think it has changed my opinion of Anakin. (Sort of)

DR76 Hey, you're entitled to your opinions. I just don't agree with them. Although I find it odd that your feelings for disliking Anakin seemed to be focused around his imperfections. Which I find odd, considering that ALL of the major characters have these imperfections that I find annoying.
