Entertainment weekley actually has the nerve to ask if Avatar is the Next Star Wars, or worse if its better than Star Wars. How do you feel about that. The picture shows how I feel.

Still popular today, even a new animated serie.
Star Wars is just legendary!
You can't just replace it by one movie, that may cost a bit more than the others but still.
Money isn't everything.
I would still like to see if Avatar is still going to be so popular after 30 years.
Star Wars will still last forever, and not only with the old generation but they're more and more young people who also love it.
I don't care what EW says, I know that Star Wars is the best movie production ever!

We all know that Avatar can't beat Star Wars! And I agree with you! I hope I can make my Star Wars stories into a movies someday, So Star Wars can keep going on! I mean, Star Wars is awesome!!! Even for a girly-girl who loves pink like me! I think entetainemtn comment said something about Star Trek, and said it was better than Star Wars or sokething like that. I 100% dissagree, Star Wars is the BEST! Your answer is the best!!!
I want to see Avatar, but it isn't Star Wars. Star Wars even beats Wicked!!! And that's saying something I went to go see Wicked twice! I even have a Wicked shirt, but I would so want 20 Star Wars shirts!
well i recently found out that when they compared it to starwars they were talking about the amount of money each made opening weekend that avatar was close to beating starwars but in the long run really theres no competition i mean comeon 6 movies thousands of books 1 tv series need i go on its pretty obvious what made the most money but in opening week they said avatar was close to making what new hope did i think it beat it but i'm not sure still theres no reason to compare the two starwars is and always will be the best
Exactly that! My brother saw Avatar recently and he said the movie had beautiful effects, but the story is not comparable to SW! And not to mention that SW also has awesome effects and that they were the first in doing such technics! So yeah, I think it's pretty clear who's the winner here. :P
I think they ment as in the amount of groundbreakin cgi. Like... idk. For example, george lucas was the 1st person to do computer graphics on white backing. Avatar will have been a first in terms of da amount of cg used in 3d. I don't think they mean in terms of how gud the film is, I've seen it and although it's good, I think star wars is better. That's a cool pic by the way... :-)

yes, I know I just dont want people to try and replace star wars.
Avatar has an element of all the epics, like Star Wars and the Matrix, so maybe they're trying to say that it will be rank alongside Star Wars, not replace it.
Avatar was good, no doubt, but it was no Star Wars. It could never amount to what Star Wars has become...it's just not possible. I mean, I'm swept off my feet every single time I watch Star Wars... with Avatar I wasn't really blown away. I mean parts of it were really stunning but I wasn't caught breathless at any moment and I like a movie that can do that. Star Wars does that eternally.
Well I guess people want to beat Star Wars. Can't happen people, even after like 30 something years Star Wars lives on. With prequals and a kid's TV series, will Avatar have that? I doubt it. Does Avatar have it's own Natinal day? I don't think so. Star Wars does!!! :D Natinal Star Wars day, I think it's the day the first Star Wars movie came out, May 2nd is it? I don't know I just know that there's a Natinal Star Wars day. And Star Wars will live on forever, Avatar pry won't.

They did they same thing with Harry Potter though, when Twilight came around. OH we have to replace Harry Potter, so everytime I go to the website, its all Twilight. EW has become a piece of shit.
I'm am completely flabbergasted that anyone would say that. Let's just sum up my thoughts: giant blue monkey people will NEVER replace Star Wars! EVER! Who wrote that column? I'd like to go giant blue ninja monkey on THEM sometime! Star Wars is epic, and will NEVER die. Just like a cockroach. (Idk, it was all I could think of...) Or a weed... I guess. Just think about it, who do you think would win in a fight, that one monkey chick, or Anakin Skywalker? That's what I thought!

While visually stunning, Avatar was NOT original, especially in terms of story. Better than Star Wars, it is not! As for it being the next Star Wars, I can't really see either, as I don't believe Avatar could pull off (or have for that matter) a sequel.
