Just fyi, if you see something weird and suspect in the polls' picks, LOL, it's because a petty, immature, pathetic spock/uhura hater with too much time in their hands decided to skew the results by voting for the 'hate them' options over and over.
I can't understand how someone can be so crazy to create that many accounts (it's math, buddy. I'm impressed by your dedication) just to spread hate on a fictional couple in a fanpage about them that isn't even that active. Posted over a year ago

What did spock meant by: it's to avoid favoritism[...] when he spoke with uhura?
is it like a gesture? to Show that he liked her or why did he said that? Not a native speaker so...

because they have a romantic relationship he didn't want people to think that he favored her/placed her on the best ship only because she was his girlfriend. But Uhura makes him understand that he overcompensated because she deserved getting aboard the enteprise for her own merits over a year ago

it fits how I imagined it because I always figured out that they started to date when he was her teacher no longer and as the official site states she was his TA I thought that's when they started the relationship though I think that they most likely felt some sparks while he was her teacher :P just waiting for the right time. I've read all of them, my favorite is the last one but I like the S/U in all of them and the slow build of their relationship is worth it. Just a note: "The Edge" actually is the first book even if it's labelled as the second one. The events from "the delta anomaly" take place some months after Kirk and Uhura entered in the Academy while "the edge" takes place in the first weeks at the Academy (where you have the first meeting between S/U). over a year ago

Ohhh, that's why I was thinking the order seemed odd. But then I read them so fast, I didn't really stop to think about it. I actually liked The Gemini Agent more than The Assassination Game, because of the racquetball + lunch scenes hahahaha If I could draw I'd love to illustrate them sitting down after the game. Sure T.A.G. has the culmination we hoped to see but after reading so many fanfictions it sort of fell short to me, LOL over a year ago

already read them all? you're faster than me LOL TGA: I like that they're growing close there so that TAG is a natural progression from that (as TGA is also a natural progression from the other books). TAG: I love that they have their first disagreement about something and it culminates with them both realizing that theirs is more than a friendship (and he understands that he could lose her). She's a human girl falling in love while he's a half vulcan half human man falling love and I like how the author handled that I thought that Spock was in character. I didn't expect that much S/U from these novels tbh so their relationship was a nice surprise to me and yeah, fanfictions are always better for shippers though the novels are good for plot bunnies. I also wish I could draw! I'd surely do some of those moments. over a year ago

I completely agree with you. I just had the metaphorical door shut on my face in TAG when the writer left Spock and Uhura and moved on to finished the story and that's probably what annoyed me hahahahha but your right, there's a lot more of their relationship then I'd expected in those books. over a year ago

Now, I can think about at least one moment that someone should expand in fanfiction (though I love how that chapter ended it's a perfect ending for a novel) Is it me or Uhura's character is the one better developed in the books? I mean, they're supposed to be about Kirk and yet something is missing in the way he's written I seem to know more about Uhura than him. She's totally badass too. Spock's portrayal is great too even though he's more a secondary character. I loved some parts from "the edge" when he was talking with that annoying andorian guy and he was almost offended that the guy thought he could offend him LOLOL over a year ago

Yes, it was the best way to end the scene, it didn't need to go further than that. What I liked most about that scene it was probably that Uhura tries to keep her thoughts realistic and the opposite happens (special relationship meant something very different for Spock than it did for her - WRONG; it’s not like Spock was going to sprout emotions overnight - WRONG; Spock isn't going to start serenading her on his lute - wrong if she wanted; she'll never see his bedroom - WRONG SO WRONG :p ) What I liked about these books was seeing how Uhura changed, she becomes more confident in each one. I liked how she had this reverential respect for Spock at first, seeing him as an older, smarter professor, but eventually she gets more comfortable, we practically see them as equals and she actually challenges him many times hahahaha Spock has some nice scenes as well, I like the one in TAG when he tricks the Admiral in advance LOL. over a year ago

She's great at what she do and it's showed so you understand why he admires her as she fascinated and captured both his human and vulcan side. The heart and the logic. It's intriguing. No, no scenes with her, I think the preview shows the only scene with her. The story seems to be focused on Chekov an Scotty, I don't think we'll see much of her or S/U at all.. But the art improved a lot, IMHO over a year ago

The only point I see in making something so uncreative is making money. But I guess if I were to think of an idea behind it, would be simply to see how those stories would play in this "new" universe. Unsurprisingly, things aren't that different. Spock and Uhura are together and that changed somethings, Vulcan is no longer and that also changed somethings and Pike is a lot healthier and stuff :p What I mean is I don't think they were thinking "oh, let's focus on character development" or "now we get to explore all the science". To me they were thinking "what episode should we do next?" over a year ago

I got curious about The Delta Anomaly book, and I found out it is part of a series (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy). Anyone read the other two? I'm reading the Star Trek ongoing comics, and I keep having the feeling they'll break up this couple. In the # 8 issue Spock mentions Uhura complained again that he was taking too many risks.

IMO the couple isn't the problem here it's Spock. In the spoiler pics with Benedict both S/U are facing him i'm scared that Spock will put himself in danger doing something stupid. It's weird but realistic how she seems to be the only one that notices something weird about his behavior. I guess that she's the only one that can notice this kind of things as the others don't know him so much like her over a year ago

It's just that we know he'll keep taking risks, so what can happen when you're always worrying about your stubborn boyfriend? I guess I don't like this sort of drama, you know? Once is fine, but then twice, it starts to bug me. They're not the central focus of the story, so I've always imagined the next best step would be to explore a more humors aspect of the relationship. Like him saying she complained about his "haircut" (which made me laugh because I'm silly :p) over a year ago

it wouldn't bug me so much if they'd get other scenes other than that but since they're in the background (and really compared to other characters she's getting a bit more attention even if it's very small) we get only small glimpses. Kirk still has a crush for her btw xD and Spock seems unconfortable talking about Nyota with him which makes sense with the "i have no comment on the matter" scene from the movie. His relantionship with her is a private thing. The problem isn't just him taking risks it's that he doesn't think first. I was thinking that in the sequel she could get in danger for his fault and he's feel guilty because she had warned him about his behavior over a year ago

forgot to add this: I think that she's worried about him because he isn't thinking logically. It isn't a matter of taking risks knowing that they exist it seems like he doesn't even think about the risks, in the first place. Like if his life doesn't matter so if he lives or dies it isn't important for him. So she's worried that he's still grieving about Vulcan and this is affecting his actions making him reckless and impulsive (that really isn't him! Wjat happened to the logical vulcan?) . They will always have to take risks but jump in the danger without even thinking about better alternatives is not sane and is not him. I've read someone saying that he's becoming more vulcan. I think the opposite: he's becoming an impulsive human. over a year ago

It's funny, I saw that dialogue from the comic in a completely different way! I thought Spock and Kirk had become friends enough so that Spock had talked to him about Uhura's concerns and that's why Kirk was asking about her reaction. Oh, I see. Personally I didn't get the impression he was changing the topic. Because it's a comic, I rely more in the images than the words. Both of them seemed relaxed and close to each other, so I assumed it was just natural conversation. Kirk asked, Spock answered (I agree, he wouldn't go over details) and then Spock asked something else that helped finishing up the story. And yes, I see the "married couple" vibe too hahaha I think Kirk has fun with that, checking upon the "married life" of his serious friend :) over a year ago

you're welcome! S/U aren't front and center (it's ensemble, Spock/Sarek and Spock/Uhura) but they're definitely there and all their parts are absolutely sweet and faithful to the way I see them in the movie. And you just want to hug Spock (it's a touching story that is set up after the memorial for his mother :( I like how the author developed Spock's human family - Amanda's family - ) over a year ago
