That totally doesn't explain what happens in Sonic 2, which is what he's talking about. In Sonic 2, on the Death Egg, specifically, Robotnick exits through a hatch after Sonic made mince-meat out of SIlver Sonic. When Robotnick comes out of that hatch, you chase Robotnick for a good 50 yards before he enters the "Death Egg Robo". You can do a feaking SPIN DASH and still not be able to catch up to him. Now, if that's true, then Robotnick, on foot, has an acceleration rater faster than the very Bughatti itself. That's what he means. And on the broader scale, how come the Sonic francise has been going on for 21 years strong and counting if Sonic could easily destroy Robotnick, being the fastest thing alive, as proclaimed by himself?

@NoctusLynx Because 1. Sonic hates killing and cruelty (robots aren't people). 2. Think about this. What would Sonic do if he caught Eggman in Sonic 2? At the speed he would have to go to catch Eggman, the impact would most likely kill him, which Sonic doesn't want. Sonic COULD have caught Eggman, but he didn't. He enjoys fighting and chasing Eggman, or else he wouldn't smile and make wisecracks during boss battles. Sonic has the ability to run faster than sound and kill Eggman, it's just he prefers not to.

One could speculate that Sonic hasn't taken down (killed) Robotnick because he's just too fun to play around with, and he also gives Sonic an excuse to explore new areas, not that he needed one to begin with. This means that Sonic purposefully spared Robotnick because he was just too much fun. Likewise, Robotnick makes robots with weak spot so that he can have a sense of challenge. After all, what's the harm in having a little fun while conquering an entire planet? This statement is supported due to the fact that there will always be those people who have trouble with Sonic games and die. A lot.

So, it could easily be that it's an ego thing on both ends. I mean, if not because he wanted to feel the rush of being chased by Sonic, then why did Robotnick make a hatch that exposes himself to Sonic when he could just have built an "underground" pathway to more easily get to the Death Egg Robo, and have the entrance to the Death Egg Robo "Underground" as well?

mind you, Sonic is capable of breaking the sound barrier in mere secords. And just going by looks, Mario has only been able to break the sound barrier not on foot, but during a ground pound. Also, that youtube video is completely reliable because there totally weren't hundreds of videos that claimed the world was going to end on 12.21.12. Youtube isn't always reiable. And like the answer above, you can't argue with video game logic. On that note, when have you seen and sound barrier breaking hedgehog, a turtle the size of a castle with spikes coming out his back, a star with eyes, floating brick blocks, disappearing coins and rings, a plumber that can pulverize stone, and a living dinosaur, and in real life? I rest my case.

Sonic its not fast as you think it is Sonic hads ban more in faster than the speed of sound not light speed he slow FTL. he didn't. Sonic Unleashad. Sonic going light speed while against it you could argue that he can run faster than the LSD with the Sonic boost but when he actually ued the Sonic boost in the Unleashed intro it was nowhere near the speed of sound

You speak truth. Dr. R is just too much fun for Sonic to kill. Also, that would be bad for business. Even when Sonix had finally mamaged to "kill" Dr.R in Sonic Generations because both versions got stuck in a timewarp of the spacetime continuum, Dr. R still managed to come back because he's awesome like that. So, in a nutshell, Sonic doesn't want to kill Dr. R, but couldn't even if he tried to. Eggman is just too awesome for that. I mean, look at his boots! ^-^
